he's actually a breath of fresh air when it comes to commentating. I'm sick and tired of these old decrepit men and women like Mary CArrillo and MAry Carillo who give us their boring perspective on tennis in a monotonous robot voice.

Learn to appreciate. Murph is like the PAt Croce/ Tom Tolbert or John MAdden of tennis commentating. Sure he'll say some stuff that's way off base. But come on, you have to be an idiot to believe that.

He's enthusiastic, got good banter, makes fun of people.

    Don't be a hater.

    Amen to that!

totally agree. It's time to get some of the old dogs out of the booth.....not all, mind you. I really Johnny Mac - much better than Patrick.

They should put Murphy Jensen in charge of the USTA.

I like Jensen too. Somebody needs to give that angry old man Doug Adler the boot.

He talks too much, like all the rest of them. To his credit, he tends to shut up during rallies more often than the genius-turned-idiotic-commentator Johnny Mac.

I couldn't stand him from the little presentation he does on the Tennis Channel. Is he better as a commentator?

He's more positive than most other commentators. Adler would say "he needs to do more with that return, that's a break point." When it was a first serve on the line. Murphy would come in and say "yeah if he get's a look at a second serve he's going to need to do more with it. That was a good first serve." He is more up beat too, obviously.

Adler is whiny. Jensen's a million times better.

Lol Murphy is such a funny commentator. Sabine Lisicki is too cute though.

After hearing that Jensen said Donald Young could win a slam, I retract my earlier post, he has clearly lost his mind along with his hair, bring on Doug Adler.

Luke Jensen is a much better commentator. Murphy is too loopy and never shuts up. Sounds like he just finished smoking a doobie.

Murphy is perfect for commentating, he's unorthodox and says what's on his mind and doesn't apologize for it, you can tell that dude is pretty relaxed and doesn't take too much seriously, I would make him GCOAT, but that Brad Gilbert would be ashamed if we took his title away.

Jensen gets on my nerves. Agree with whoever said he always sounds high.

He is a bit more interesting with his comments than a lot of commentators though.

He would be alright if he realized he has a mic on and doesn't have to yell, or didn't yell and yee-hah! after every above par shot or rally. I agree that he's a nice change of pace just needs some volume control, and not talk as much during play(but that's true for most) easily better than The Stob.
