OK, perhaps KD might have been better than KO:)

A cute little video clip of Mac and Lendl at an indoor event (I think in
'89). This was when the top players HATED each other (especially these two)
and haven't yet learned to fall in love and applaud each others shots
    mid-match as is today's custom...

WARNING: Rated PG-13 for violent content. Also, the video quality is simply
ABYSMAL!! ...and it's not helped by the fact that some fool thought it a
good idea to color the indoor carpet a lime green / light blue so you can
barely see the ball from even a good TV reception. They must have thought
indoor carpet should look like concrete or something...I HyperCam'd the
video to make the file as small as possible....

    McEnroe: weak.
Who falls over after being hit by a tennis ball? (and one not hit that hard either).
Anyway - you're right about the dislike between players and IMO, it makes for great matches!

    Good clips, Marius...

The ball was hit pretty hard. That can hurt if it gets you right in the sternum, or right on that nipple. But I think McEnroe was overdramatizing it just to get everyone against Lendl.

    Make for some great tennis!

Just checked it out - looks like this was the semifinal at Dallas WCT in '89. McEnroe won the match 6-7 7-6 6-2 7-5 and ended up winning the tournament. Before this he lost 4 times in a row to Lendl, and after this he lost 6 times in a row. Seems like McEnroe only had Lendl's number back in '83-'85 in his prime.

As Snoop Dogg said, "Lendl was the Truth".

Mac is such a puss. The look on his face is like that of a 5 year old who got his cookie stolen.

It was in his chest, not even his throat or his face.
Mac was totally faking it ;)

Great find Marius...thanks for the morning entertainment! By the by, I agree that mac blew it out of proportion. By way of comparison, during the AO final this year, Federer nearly took off Marcos Bagdhatis' head; Bag had to crouch fully down to the ground and still almost got nailed. Marcos just got up, smiled and went on his merry way. Mac always needed a bit of animosity towards his opponent on the court to get himself fired up.

    Great video.
Man, I'd love to see more of that match.
I love Lendl's "so what" walk after the first point.
    Brilliant, thanks for sharing.

Nice video. Lendl´s attitude seems like Clint in a western movie... :)

Only McEnroe would lie there for a while and give Lendl a look. It was almost a look of disappointment, like "I expected this from the umpire, but not from you." I remember McEnroe was doing commentary for last year's French Open, and Nadal accidentally hit his opponent in the chest with the ball. Mac didn't like that at all and chalked it up to inexperience.

Awesome video, thanks Marius. Those were some very entertaining matches, unfortunately, its all buisness nowadays, no acting. Safin is out in early rounds, same with Hewitt ( we could use some spitting at him), and Rafa is simply jubilant, not dramatic. The drama is gone.

Lendl was No.1 at the time, right? Great video find. Marius, do you have the full-length version? Would be a great match to watch in its entirety.
