Sorry if this has been discussed before. Does anyone know what rackets these 2 greats used when they played each other recently in an exo?

Just from my memory - I think Mats uses some sort of K Blade I think. Lendl uses his Bosworth Tour 96.

I didn't see the match but that's what these guys use.

I'm sure someone who attended the match will confirm. I'm sure of Lendl - and Mats used a Wilson blade last time I saw.

I was there. I'm not sure exactly which Wilson Wilander was using, put it had the same PJ as the one Fed uses. Lendl was playing with a Bosworth.

I was there too and saw it up close for a few seconds. I think Wilander had an Ncode (I dunno which, though), and Lendl definitely had a Bosworth.

Wilander is using the Wilson BLX 6.1 Tour 90 on April 10, 2010 for his exo against Lendl. Before that he was using the Kblade 98.

Wilander has been using a lot of midplus frames in the last six or seven years on the senior tour from Volkl (Tour 10 series), Yonex (RDS 001 MP), Babolat (Pure Drive) and Wilson (K Blade MP). He seems to have no problem switching between dense and open string patterns but then again he is a great player!

Still, doesn't make much sense that he's suddenly gone from years of 98 sq. inch frames to a 90. Maybe since he's been w/Wilson a bit now he's getting his racquets paint jobbed? Or maybe he was just trying it out?

I could be wrong but it just seems odd that he's made such a big change in equipment. Again. Maybe someone will meet him at one of his Wilander on Wheels events and ask him. Everyone says he's a really cool dude.

Nice clip. I rather like how enthusiastic Wilander sounds whenever he talks about anything tennis-related. Kudos, too, for being able to form complete sentences while talking to Annabel Croft; I'm not sure I could. (Speaking of Croft, I'm also not sure I buy a former top-25 player knowing as little about racquet customization as her questions would suggest.)

Wilander's BLX 6.1 Tour 90 is 16x19. So I would say it is a real 90. I never saw Mats use a babolat Pure Drive. What year was that?

I think he proves you can take off the shelf rackets that you can get at TW and make them into rackets a multiple grand slam winner could use. He also teaches us that you can use "almost" anything and be good. He is not hung up on his equipment, for example, head size, string patterns, etc. But his is a real endorsement of customization.

2008 at a senior event. I believe it was in Argentina.

I remember him saying at the French Open last year that he doesn't get his racquets custom made b/c he keeps changing. Looks like he changed again! He was using a KBlade 98 with some lead tape and a modified grip. He showed the interviewer all his personal customizations to the racquet.

Here's a clip from the senior event. You can see his racquet a few times.

Wilander used a KBlade Team several months ago at an exhibition. A stringer friend strung his racquet with VS16m and ALU Rough crosses at 55 and 50. His racquet had lots of lead tape around the top. The stringer said that it swung "heavy".

I just demoed that racquet and saw Wilander showing the lead tape he had put at the top of the hoop. To me it swung, in stock form, pretty close to even balanced and had a very heavy feeling. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilander's racquet was a bit on the head heavy side.
