What do you think is being discussed tonight at the Roddick camp and at the Federer's corner?

I believe Roddick should be a little extra careful for the early break, try to exploit those kicking 2nd serves out wide to Fed bh on the ad court, not to engage in long rallies from the baseline, s&v here and there and never let FedEx to take the initiative in Rod's service games. His returns, just take one or two steps back, but move forward if you see him S&V.

For Roger..., do your thing, baby! No, seriously. For him, I see Roger taking one step back to have a better look at Andy's serves, but moving forward on his 2nd serves. Did you notice Andy has great 2nd serves, but almost always wide... so I can see Roger moving forward to get a better cut on the ball. Use the slice from your bh as often as you can, Andy cannot attack those balls; s&v most of the time, but if he moves back to return better you should stay in the back too so you wait for the rally to start where you'll have the edge.

    Your ideas?

Gilbert to Roddick: Serve at 75% or higher and do not miss any forehands on set point...

Federer to himeself: show up on court

ok..just joking...Roddick will need to serve well and Federer will have to play well to...Roddick is a good bit better this year than last and can trouble Federer IF his serve is on. If Andy serves like he did against Mario...Federer will roll easier than last year

Ya, it's pretty obvious Federer doesn't have to do anything special to beat Roddick other than keep the same focus he's had in all his matches.

Roddick seriously needs to have a higher first serve percentage than he's ever had. It's not like Fed was ripping returns against Andy's bombs last time they played so Andy seriously needs to get up to net more often.

Gilbert is probably thinking we should have let Ancic take his chances with him, because we certainly don't have one.

This is why I love this forum. People actually want to talk strategy . . .

Roddick will need to s&v some to keep Fed from simply blocking back returns all day. Gilbert will also tell his boy to serve into Fed's body--that seemed to work pretty well last time they played. Don't know about the kicker--may not get high enough on grass. (Though I have to say, Roddick threw in a *huge* kicker on Ancic today. It actually bounced up higher than Ancic's head. I've never seen a kicker that high on grass before.)

Federer just needs to not overplay. People haven't talked about this much on here, but during the Hewitt and Grosjean matches Federer made a lot of bad errors in a row during pressure moments of those matches. Sometimes he tries to be a little too amazing too early.

Fed: not think much about the match, "it's just another match", lots of rest, relax and good sleeping.

Roddick: reviewing Fed's videos, concentrating, deciding where to serve, getting concious that he needs to put in all his serves and fores. And trying to get some good sleeping too.

Roger volleyed Andy easily last year and so did Mario yesterday. Andy better find a better way to pass Roger or he's dead meat. I still don't know why Andy never uses the topspin lob, it's one of the best weapons against a volleyer.

The old "rain delay at our convenience stratedy" seems to have worked v. Ancic. We quit for a bit while every other court plays on. (Gilbert). Darned if I know what Andy can do if it's a sunny day.
