Just read in a industry forum out here in the land of exploitation and pollution that Li Ning have posted massive losses over the last year and are regretting getting away from their core business model and being involved with loss making areas like.............Tennis !

I love how they pain silver stripes on them to indicate the areas where you need support and those shoes appear to not have any.

There's absolutely no forefoot cushioning and only a tiny but of heel cushioning.

So this is basically the Wilson K95 version for shoes eh? :)

Also, I thought that Li-Ning was a clothing line established by Li Na.............

I think the stitching on the shoe near the bottom shows that it isn't made with the finest quality... :|

I think their losses might be coming from the $$$ they give to Dwyane Wade.

When they announced it last year I couldn't figure out why they signed him up. Their shoes are hard to get by as I haven't seen any Li-Ning shops in the US and you can only buy the Wade shoe online. So they're trying to capture the US market, but not selling to them.

SAme thing for Argentina - I think they sponsored their olympic team? But IIRC there were no stores in that country too.

A friend of mine who travels to China says its REALLY BIG in China. I don't know if the chinese prevent retailers like Nike and Adidas to sell there.

Too bad since they have some pretty good offerings. For basketball, the Li-Ning Turningpoint and Villains seem to be better performers than the Wade shoe, but don't get any love.

Looks like a disfigured mutant hybrid of a Vapor 7 and some ugly asics shoe.

Li Ning shops are located in malls right next door to Adidas, Nike, Puma, Merrell, New Balance, Reebok, etc. shops. The Li Ning shops are always empty while the Adidas and Nike shops are always packed. Chinese people know better.

Li Ning will reverse engineer the other companies' tech and designs, infringe on their patents, etc. This will never be punished in Chinese courts, but now that they are trying to penetrate foreign markets it eventually will be. This brand is essentially a knock-off company that aspires to be a global dominator.

It isn't the quality that gets them in trouble in Tennis. they are trying to break into the new market. men's tennis isn't really that big in china yet. and they need new great tech that can rival Yonex and Nike.

They don't prevent them - but they make it difficult. And the PRC (government) is trying to steer the people to buy their own brands. A few days ago they came out with a scathing 'report' ripping Apple - even though the Chinese love Apple products - it was an obvious attempt to try to help the domestic smartphone makers.

I've been going to the Shanghai tournament since '05 - Nike's booth got smaller and smaller - didn't even have one - much to the disgust of the locals - last yr. The Erke area was huge - and no one was interested in their stuff.
