So I'm currently experimenting with the Instinct (not the FXP version), which is, on paper at least, pretty close to what I'm looking for: a player's racquet with good flex, some pop, a semi-dense string pattern and a super-midplus head. I have mine set up with babolat leather grips and 8 grams of lead at 3 and 9, strung with Topspin Cyberflash 17 gauge at 58. They now weigh 11.8 oz, a good weight for me. But.. the new frames (made in China) I received today look different from my first one (made in Austria). The paint is less yellow and more brown, and the lettering is not as dark. The buttcaps are also different (Austria = white; China = black and white). They also came prestrung with Head synthetic gut (a decent string job for factory strings, they feel tighter than my 2 day old Cyberflash job at 58) which I guess I'll try before cutting them out. Has anyone noticed any difference between the Austrian and Chinese versions? When did Head switch production to China? Did this happen after they were discontinued, like the "resurrection batches" of PT 280s, Genesis/Atlantis, and Trysis 260s? I'm confused.
