Longer, simpler strokes with more kinetic chain, or whippier high RHS strokes? Or blend of both?

Don't actively muck with your wrist during a forehand. The wrist will lay back (extension) as your racket hand starts forward and you shouldn't be thinking about altering your wrist position after that. I would prefer you practice NOT altering your wrist position. Your body - legs, hips and shoulders - drive the rotation into contact and this is where your RHS and power come from. It's funny how the original post puts Federer into some obsolete category of tennis. If a 19 year pro had a FH like Federer, I assure you his coaches would be very happy. In fact, Alcaraz's FH is more similar to Federer's than Sock's.

The “next gen” which was talked a lot was the group of Sock, Kyrgios, Tiafoe, etc. Those are great players, but swing styles they use don’t seem to fit well neither for most rec players nor for most of pros.
So keeping the racket head very low and elbow very high, slapping the ball hard is the next gen?

I feel this is going down the wrong way!

Djokovic, Alcaraz for life! ;)

There were enough of those who were singing songs to Next Gen FH technique. And I don’t blame them, players are the teachers in sports. Maybe you just wait for them to show results confirming technique is advantageous, not just “interesting”.

Yeah the proof is in the pudding.
