I was at the public courts last weekend, waiting for my turn. I was watching these two guys play what i call "angry teen tennis", where if they missed anything they'd go all Safin on everything. needless to say, on set point, the guy who lost absolutely clicked it and threw his racquet pretty hard. It cracked, so he didn't bother to keep it and just left it there and i adopted him:

Is this fixable, and even if it is will it still roughly play the same?

Can you give me their contact numbers so I can ask them where they hide their money tree?

You need to see if Mommy and Daddy will adopt you. Once he starts paying for his own stuff this behavior will end fast.

Use it to test DIY paint job.

You can try paint striper on certain parts to see if it would damge the graphite. Or try sanding off the paint on a small area to see how far you can sand down before ruining the graphite. etc.

You can do a lot of things to it to learn more.

    Smart suggestions Anirut!

I would also suggest taking off the butt cap to try adding weight (just as a trial) and fixing it with hot glue. Maybe even try shaving the handle to reduce grip size - just experiments one cannot perform on something that is paid for :)

    Thanks nikdom.

I've "stolen" many broken rackets from the club I play at to test a lot of things, from sanding to cutting to burning them up, all sorts of fun stuff -- just to see what it'd be like.

Just slab some gorilla glue between the cracks and then sell it on an auction site for 100 bucks.

Lol! Very good and quick way to get a really crummy reputation selling racquets on Fleabay. Not to mention, you'll have to refund the money and eat the shipping since it was obviously broken in a fit of anger.

Salvage any good pieces... butt cap, leather grip, cover... sell or trade them and use the frame to experiment on... like others have stated.

Take that stick with you to every match. Then when you feel the urge to go postal, pull that sucker out of your bag and go to town. You'll get benefit of the tantrum, without destroying your own stick.

    :)

That's what my friend did with a N6 OS that he hated. At the end of about a month, the racket was in 4 pieces: a handle, the upper hoop of the frame, connected to the side of the frame, connected to the bottom of the racket. It was in shambles!

Does anyone else get really pissed off when they see "angry teen tennis"? Speaking from perspective, i cant stand those types of people. That was a really nice racquet that he just cracked. At least if your going to play "angry teen tennis" play it with cheap $30-$60 racquets. Geez...

just hang it up on a wall. its a nice colored racquet. when ur freinds come to your house and they see u hang a "player's" racquet on the wall, they will think that you are a pretty good player.

At tryouts today, the singles players were playing each other. This one senior who happened to be sporting a n 6-1 95 (practically brand new) loses a point, goes down on the court, taps the racket on the ground LIGHTLY (just as light as one would tap a finger on a table) and the racket cracks right at the handle. He got pissed, to say the least.

Oh dear me, abandoned rackets at the court are a ****** ever since we're not allowed to put them in a sack and throw them in the river. Remember boys and girls, a racket is for life not just for Christmas.
