I always disliked when I couldn't find a match so what I did is created an online system where players register and then can search for other players by area code, town or zip code and then get in touch with them and play. It's a free service and I would like to invite all of you to come and enjoy it - http://www.tennismates.com

For the love of the game!

good luck in your matching service.

I have tried other online tennis matching websites before I have been not happy with the results. I actually met up with 3 guys from these websites. 2 of them were well below their stated level of ability. The 3rd guy refused to play a match because he couldn't get his serve in. So we just hit around, but he would stand on his backhand side and just try to hit everything as hard as he could with his forehand. Maybe it was bad luck but...

I eventually just joined a bunch of tennis leagues /ladders and I have pretty much as all the matches I have time for.

    Thanks

I appreciate the feedback folks! We're getting about 50 new players a day and things are really taking off.

    Thanks again,

I signed up but man most of the people are rated high. I have a feeling no one will respond to me *sniff*

Setting up a match with a better player

Setting up a match with a better player than yourself is a great way to get better. I know how many people are competitive and hate to lose but believe me, playing with players who are higher in skill level will raise your skill level.

Most of the people overrate themselves because they think that no one wants to hit with a 3.0. I bet a big percentage of the users overrate themselves.

    Yep

Permode, that's been our experience too. How many people actually take the time to go out and get a USPTR or USPTA Pro to Cert their player level is a mystery to me.

On the NTRP rating. Open means no ranking right??? I see some with just dash marks but some reason OPEN players are at the top of the list making me think that it's a level higher than 7.0. IF i had to rate myself I'd figure I'm somewhere btw 3.0 - 3.5

    Perfmode and NTPR Rating OPEN

Ya, reffering to perfmode. haha! Nice Sig!

As per "Open" that is the top level player. one whom plays Open tournaments and who is very good, in other words, above a 7.0 on the NTRP scale.

Sorry but that site is a joke. There are no people even registered around me, much less in the whole state of MI, where I live. I searched for players in LA, and still only like 5 people showed up, all 6.0+.

It's just started I believe so it's going to take some time to build up a database. It's a good effort though :) Just seems weird to message a complete stranger to play tennis. I like using this forum though to reach out.

    Anyone from Houston? :)
