Voted Nishi in 3, he is craftier than Lopez, the only thing Lopez has better is the serve

Lopez looks overmatched, but I enjoy watching him play. The serve and volley, the charging in during rally, the reaching, slice backhands. Fun game style. Not effective today, but he is in the final. Nikishori seems particularly "on" today. Lopez maybe could have got back into it if he could have converted here.

You sort of forget what a fixture some guys have been on the tour. Commentators were saying that Lopez has been tour for 16 years:shock:

Sad to see the end of the Memphis event. Are the women staying?

I don't think so. It's just gonna become a 250. It's the end of San Jose.

Seems weird to end San Jose and not Memphis. Which event has better attendance?

They should try an event in Chicago if they can.

That would be nice. There used to be a great indoor event in Chicago. I remember McEnroe winning it. I'm gonna miss San Jose too, I agree I would have kept it over Memphis.

Oh, it's being downgraded. I thought the men's event was being eliminated completely. If that's the case, I honestly think they can still get pretty good fields. There's always going to be the players who don't want to play the pre-Indian Wells/Miami clay court events in Mexico and South America.

True, some of those players will just play indoors over in Europe. But, since Memphis is relatively close in time to IW and Miami, and players have to be over here anyway, I think they'll do okay. Plus, players seem to like the event.

Too bad. While tournaments like IW are getting bigger, others are shrinking. Poor management I guess.

Lopez just doesn't stand a chance in the rallies.

    Edit: Nishikori wins 6-2, 6-3.

This final went so fast!! What an easy way to gain 500 points! Kei should say "thank you" for the gift. He's gonna be propelled to #6 or so in the race ranking with minimum effort :)

Fun match to watch. Lopez just seemed really overmatched in the rallies, but I love watching him play. That being said, Kei is really fun to watch, man he can hit that backhand and that forehand is a bomb.

I would like to see Kei move into the top ten, but wonder if he can hold up long enough to reach it, and then to stay there.

I actually hope I get a chance to see both in IW.

Kei is great. the only limit on how far he'll go is his ability to get and stay healthy. he is strong mentally too.

his knees gave him trouble at the Australian Open.
