Well, maybe 7:30 or 7:45, we'll see. You know when you're having fun with tennis and can't stop? That happens a lot to me.
John
I might be able to make it Tuesday. Normally, I would be getting drunk in Venice, but that might not be the case this week. Let me know what you flakes decide to do...
My god, those are the fastest hard courts I've ever played on. No grit at all, it was like a roller skating rink.
Nice meeting Billy Idol and Sephiroth.
Billy Idol, after you left, I was partnered with the worst doubles partner a person could ever hope for. I was done after that. I wanted Sephiroth and Alpine to beat us, but Alpine wasn't exactly cooperating.
And I went to that burrito place. I hope I make it through the night. It was like eating a sleeping bag stuffed with rice.
I usually play in West Hollywood. You were hitting the ball well. You have a good forehand. Those courts are tough. I thought I had worked the kinks out of my forehand but those slippery courts really screwed me up. I was just trying to keep the ball in play and got lucky that I was the only person who was really doing that. Haha.BTW, what you witnessed yesterday was my C game on ice skates. I "believe" I'm better. Next time.
Smooth fast courts? Sounds terrible for my grinding loopy game style. Still, i have it in the back of my mind to get down there and hit with you guys some more.
Yeah, i'm thinking it would be hard to grind on those slippery courts, LOL !! I would have to change my game style to go for big first serves and hard flat bombs off the rise, with some net rushes mixed in, a total 180.

You cannot be serious!
(about those courts...)
I never really paid any attention to the "ultra-urban streetball kind of feel" so I don't really mind playing in North Hollywood. Those are the only courts near the basketball courts. But Griffith Park is far from being dusty/dirty. They even have a nice/clean stadium court so you won't get distracted by anything beyond the courts.

Shatto park,I used to love that place... another great place to play in LA is called Vermont Canyon, pay to play same as Griffith park but it's close to the Greek Theater adjacent to Roosevelt 9 hole golf coarse ... it's very quiet and the courts are usually in good condition .. lovely place.. if you really want more privacy then go to the set of courts on top...
****to courts are the worst. But at least you have to wait to play. And you can't beat the fact the nets are low. At least a cute stripper was spectating.Okay...So what's the obsession with the LA guys out here on TW who seem to find and want to play on the worst courts around? NoHo, Griffith, Shatto...
you guys need to try this place .. the best kept secret ... but no lights... Fremont Park in Glendale is also a nice place with lights...

The stadium at Griffith is okay...still a pretty crap surface.
I'm down. I'm writing my congressman about this. Make those suckers pay.Let's fine everyone who plays at Shatto. That'll teach 'em!
Hey LA Crew, are you seeing any effects from the fire?

Why doesn't someone walk down the street and bang (then kick if they don't answer) on the Chinese Consulate door? They claim their economy is still chugging along with 7% annual growth - surely they can throw a bone to a 'down on its luck' former 1st world country and kick in the $$$$$$ - oops RRRRRRRRRRMB (that's a lot of RMB - aka Yuan - aka Chinese currency) - required to resurface the courts.I'm down. I'm writing my congressman about this. Make those suckers pay.
Haha, I'll probably go again. But has anybody mentioned how fast those courts are?
