How many of you have quit using dampeners because you've found that feel is more important than sound like me?

i quit using one. but because i get more power without a dampner, to me it lowers the power on my racquet and even if u dont use a dampner u still get a nice pop sound from the racquet

I miss the pop sound. But i don't think dampeners cause the pop to go away. I think it's because people are playing with poly strings, including myself. Now i here a plastic like sound, instead of a loud thump.

I like the pop sound a lot, especially from bands like The Raconteurs, Oasis, The Bar Kays, Supersuckers, Supergrass, Cold War Kids, Gorillaz...and the like.

On a tennis racquet, I just use leather pads, no rubber band. Would not consider paying for an actual dampener. Sellout.

    EDIT:
Sorry for the dickish response, I'm just chillin' until the Federer match comes on. The only part of the Chakvetadze/Paszek match that held my attention was the Guga cameo.

My racquet makes a ping :/ I hate it.

If I could make that pop sound, I'd take it.
