What is the preferred lube for gut when pulling it? I don't have any problems when the gut is coated like VS, but some of the cheaper, drier brands I worry about the friction especially when pulling/weaving the crosses.

I have used a high quality carnauba wax which seems ok. I wonder about talcum powder, as it works wonders on rubbery items. I have heard baby oil also works.

What do the rest of you use?

Y gut I have strung was Gamma, Wilson, Pacific, and VS and I have not had a problem. If I did I would try parafin. You can get it in the grocery store for not much in the canning section.

As Irving says, if you need to use anything, pariffin is the best--easy and no mess. Good luck.
