theres a huge market for discontinued shoes...if only the manufacturers would listen
Yes, but not many people will buy them at full retail price.
Unlike the Jordan, tennis, as a sport is not as popular, so it won't get that kind of attention of selling out within minutes of re-release...
I had one of those "Wow, look what I found!" moments too today.
I was browsing at tennis apparel in the Sport Chek at Pacific Centre in Vancouver, but just couldn't bring myself to buy a bunch of stuff because of the prices. Then, I found myself in Winners. I obviously wasn't looking for tennis stuff because you wouldn't think you'd find good quality tennis clothing there, but I was looking through the athletic section and happened to come across one of these:
^That's a 2011 Adidas Roland Garros polo that was part of a clothing line that Jo-Wilfried Tsonga endoresed during the French Open this year. There was also a collared polo I grabbed, but I can't find a picture of it anywhere. These were both the only ones on the rack. I couldn't believe my luck! The best part was that they were both only $23 Canadian, when polos like these usually go for about $60. On top of that, there were a couple pairs of this year's Spring adiZero shorts in lime green for only $25 so I grabbed a couple of those as well.
Feels good to revamp the tennis wardrobe all in one stop!
Nike factory stores in puerto rico
The 2 stores that we have here are bringing a lot of tennis stuff. They have the french open vapors, all colors of woven challenger shorts, del potro shirts, rf clay season crew, cheyvron polos, rafa french open tshirts and a yellow bandana
This is the first time that the tennis section has more than 2 racks
I just purchased the federer polo from wimbledon this year for 12$ at my local nike factory store. A few months ago I got last year's wimbledon polo for 10$ at the same store. They both were the only ones in the entire store and what the team member told me was that people probably just return in and then they put it on the floor. Pretty crazy. I was wondering if anyone else had such luck? Over the years all my nike apparel has come from the factory store and I've got loads of great things. I never spend more than 20$ on shirts/shorts.
pics would be nice if possible. i found some white and orange head shorts at a ross yesterday but didnt buy because of size
Some days ago, I saw one of Nadal's 2006 or earlier sleeveless. It was a black and yellow one.
If it's a factory store, it makes sense that some returns come in and that they have tennis gear on hand. I've been to one factory store (Las Vegas) and they had TONS of retail and discounted tennis apparel. On the other hand, Nike OUTLETS hardly ever have tennis gear, so those would good finds for the price. That has just been my experience. Good finds tho....
But what's the difference? Except for the Niketowns in major cities, all the Nike Outlets I've been to are Nike Factory Stores. They are the same thing, aren't they?
My understanding are Outlet stores and "Factory Stores" are the same thing. "Outlet" has taken on a "cheap" sound and to avoid that they've adopted "factory" store.
could you please message me
im hoping you could help me get some stuff
Incorrect. The Factory Stores are basically traditional retail stores and the principal delivery channel for the bulk of Nike's retail sales today. The "Outlet" stores are much less common and are the true disposal stores for discontinued and outdated merchandise. In other words, once it does not sell in the "Factory" store it is then sent to the "Outlet" store for last rites.
I was under the impression that the Nike stores are broken down as such:
#1:Niketown. Always the newest merchandise, usually only a few sale items.
#2:Nike Factory Stores. 99% of the items are discounted, except for some of the great sellers, like the Nike Elite Basketball Socks. Some are discounted more than others. They might have Rafa's $55.00 shorts for $39.99 if they are fairly new, or maybe $7.99 if they have been at the location for quite some time.
#3:Nike Clearance Stores. Not too many in existence. There are a few in California. My understanding is that they do not have areas for specific sports, but rather a mixtures of items. More like a discount store that is not sport specific. Never been to one though, so someone can correct me if I am wrong.
You hit the spot with this post, those are the only store they are For only NIKE products. I do a lot of business with them and there are no "Outlets", just these 3 and NSW
told myself if i was working back in that area of the specific ross/marshalls i'd pick it up. as i was browsing for the shoes i found it in 11.5 and thought i missed out. found my size. i missed out on the shorts though and got some nike combat compression shorts instead.
i've been wearing the shoes in the house to see if they are comfy enough to keep otherwise i'll return the shoes.
Really? Everything is discounted at the Nike Factory Stores that I've been to, whereas they are not at the Niketown stores. I'd say the Niketown stores are the traditional retail stores for Nike. It seems like everything that doesn't sell at the Niketown stores get sent to the Factory Stores since nothing in the Factory Stores are from the current season, it's all past season's stuff.
theyre about to open 10 ross locations near chicago. with nordstrom rack, tj, marshalls, ross and a nike factory outlet within 20 miles, i better be able to find some good deals!
I don't know how to message so you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Ill post pics as soon as I can. And just to let you know it's very rare I find anything at my local Nike it's very rare I find anything. But I'll be glad to help as best I can. Thanks
click on the username of the intended person...you can send a msg that way from the options that present themselves.
I can never find anything good at TJ and Marshals anymore, but every time i go to the outlet, i always grab something. Ross is hit and miss too, but they tend to have more than Marshals.
picked up rafa's fearless fuego shirt at nordstrom rack for $30 today
Nice! Chi-Town's gonna get some [good deals]!
^Every time I visit the US, I go the Outlets to find good deals. I've never seen a Nike Outlet (I visit fairly often).
Went to Nike outlet for labor day sale.. Federer crews for 40.. Clearance tennis shirts for $6 (10 with extra 40%off)
Which outlet? Thanks!
I went to the outlet in Allen, TX.
I'm not the best with which season is which but from the Nike sale apparel page at TW, I can see some stuff.
Summer rafa jacket - $20
Summer rafa shirt-$10
Summer rf trophy crew-$40
and red rf tshirts-$10
Thats what I remember from there.

Challenger, Showdown shorts- $25
Frequency polos- $35
UV V-necks- $35
Black/grey Vapor 8- $80
Over labor day weekend I went to a Nike Factory Store. It was pitiful how little tennis apparel there was. The only thing worth mentioning is Nadal's pink 2010 Cincy crew for $40 (might have been an additional 30% off, but I didn't bother checking).
Yeh..I found this Nike Pro Combat Hypercool shirt for 6.99 on clearance at Ross!
the coolest name for a shirt I ever came across!!!
the back looks like this:
I also bought another pair of asic gel game for 30usd. Not really earth shattering cheap but my feet really agree with the first pair.
LOL! You need to copyright that!
IMO, this does not constitute as a good deal.... just sayin. but the idea that a factory store is carrying that much tennis is a nice find.
labor day sale was good at adidas. 50% off all items with red price tags. all mens tennis (barricade line from AO to spring) was on sale. polos, crews, shorts, but not the shoes....
i returned mine. wore them around the house for a few hours and they are just too narrow. wish it fit. hope i come across another deal that agrees w my feet
I agree- which is why I only left the store with the Showdown shorts.
i just bought this jacket at Marshall for $16.99
it is the "Nike Tennis Men's Victory RF Knit Jacket
the stars is filtered out by TW but you can replace those stars with golf.... and keep the rest of the field
off 120 dang!!!!!!!
@ marshalls i got some nike dri-fit shorts for 12.99. black with red accents. the pockets seem a bit shallow to my taste but i'm in need of shorts to pair up with the extra shirts i have. they had some nice adidas and avia shirts but had to pass.
Theres Ross at where I live. Do they have good tennis stuff? I found a ProStaff 6.0 85 at Goodwill in La Habra, CA. Bought for $20.
ross...just like goodwill is a hit and miss. the ross nearest to me doesn't have much athletic gear that i like. mostly below the knee basketball shorts and fresno state football jerseys.
i go back all the same to see if there are any gems.
this should be paired with the cheap players club.
I don't mind spending a bit more on rackets and balls to get exactly what I want, but clothing can always be bought quite cheap.
except trainers maybe.
you can go through clothes quite quickly anyway so why pay so much for them.
My ross/marshalls/kohls is essentially crap. One time I saw a knock off Chlesea jersey w/the logo LITERALLy cut out of the center of the chest. I was "WTF" is this? I guess the person putting the shirt on the hanger "missed" that.
not sure if this is as good a deal as the nadal and fed stuff on this but I got Nike N.E.T 9 inch shorts for 11.00 and my local Marshalls, near Boston. And got Nike Elite socks for 7 bucks a pair as well as regular Nike Dri Fit Black Socks for 12.00 for 12. And they had some Murray stuff from this years Australian Open (blue) for 22.00 but i didnt get it.
which marshalls did you go to? i live in the area.
the one up near newton, ma
Found this today. Not really a bargain, but its tough to find RF & Rafa, or any tennis apparel in SA. So when I see a top I like or shoes I take the chance and get it.
Got this for about $30.
I was at my local Niketown and they had the Lunar Vapor 8 tour (the black/red colourway) on sale for $70.
Where did you find that?
You know the Nike Shop in Sandton City has some decent tennis clothes if you are prepared to pay the price... Also there is a Nike shop in Centurion lake mall and Menlyn if you are prepared to travel and pay.. Got a mate coming from the states this week and he is bringing me some stuff
