Wow I can't believe I haven't checked out this thread until now...I live about 10 minutes away from a Ross and Marshalls and about 5 minutes away from a TJ Maxx. Haven't been to these stores in a while, and the last time I went hunting for nice tennis stuff my local outlets were pretty dry. Hopefully I'll get lucky :)

You won't have to wait long for a red top from Nike, every major has either Fred or Ralph in red.

Nothing at local Ross or TJ Maxxx. Marshall had some Nike basic all white shorts from last year...

There's a massive outlet out there called Cabazon with plenty of factory stores. Also there's a place in palm desert called Pete Carlson's Golf and Tennis which always has good deals.

    This.

Pete Carlson's is an awesome shop. That outlet is endless shopping, if you're in the mood, it's maybe 30 minutes outside of Palm Springs.

I actually went to Pete Carson's yesterday and got an Adidas and kswiss shirt for 50% off, a pair of shorts for 50% off and a fed hat for 20% off. I will have to
Check out that outlet mall pretty spins. Thanks!

Loads of 2011 Nadal and Federer gear down the road from my house this past weekend at 70% off. I bought some CB3.3s in US Open White/Blue for $49.99 in my 11.5, they had several mainstream sizes. I didn't find break-in hard at all, though I haven't done too much in them as I f'ed my rotator cuff Friday so can't play matches.

Adidas outlet at the Orlando Premium Outlets had Barricade 7 in the blue/orange/white colorway for $70. I passed, but would have bought if I needed shoes for sure.

That is a nice price but, technically, they aren't Fed's. For some reason, and I'd love Nike to tell me why, they don't sell his shorts in the US right now. All of his are similar to Nadal's in that they have a zipper fly and snap or velcro closure.

Yup, they're not Fed's, but they are the same colors as his from USO last year, and they were a good deal and in my size.

    (I'm in SoCal btw)
This past week at my local Marshall's, I've found a bunch of dri-fit Nike shirts ranging from 13-20$. I also found a bunch of blue Adidas shirts with stripes on the sleves for 15$. Also found some Puma, Layer 8's, and some C9 sports shirts for roughly 10$ each. I found a purple Puma track jacket and a gray Nike jacket with some neon green and pink for 20$ each. (Can anyone tell me what that Nike jacket is?) And I saw some Nike and a few Adidas shorts for 10-15$

Not super great clothes, just those clothes for general athletics. I would've bought almost everything if I wasn't a teenager who doesn't get an allowance. Hopefully there'll be some better stuff this Saturday. I'll take pictures next time for sure!

Can anyone give me tips on finding "good" tennis clothes. What's the difference between tennis shirts and those other sports shirts? Aren't they just the same? What makes them so special if I may ask? (pardon my ignorance)

Found this in the Running section of Niketown Vegas - looks enough like a tennis shirt:

It's called the Nike Men's Race Day Short Sleeve Running Top. Lists for $58 - mine for $32. Dri Fit - feels even lighter than the lightest tennis shirts.

Like many of us here, I like to go to the local shops and try to find whatever deals I can. The prices of tennis things are getting ridiculous – $130 for shoes that won't last 50 hours? $90 shirts? – and I find that I can occasionally strike gold.

Today I went to Stringers in Raleigh, NC and had a pretty negative experience. I've never been crazy about this place, but I've repeatedly given it a try because people I know seem to think it's god's gift to local tennis players.

Anyway, the old man there is a terrible salesman. I've thought it since the first time I walked in. He is sour, inimical, unwelcoming, and a know-it-all. In one of my first experiences with this shop, I called and asked if they could string a racquet in a few hours. This old man was on the other end of the phone, and started laughing at me and said something to the effect of no shop could turn around string jobs that quickly. Boy was he wrong, because I went to Raleigh racquet club and had two done in under three hours. I'm not a member of Raleigh racquet club, and find the place to be haughty, but at least the folks in the pro shop know how to treat a customer.

There have been a few experiences like this, and I've shrugged them off because I thought the guy's son, who owns the shop, is really a class A guy and I've had a few nice conversations with him about stringing racquets and other things like that. Today was the final straw, though: as I was checking out he asked for my name to look me up in his system, and when I said my surname he mocked it in an under-his-breath way that was definitely still clearly audible to me. I don't think this old man even realized what an offensive thing he said... or maybe he did. Either way, this guy should not be interacting with customers. He comes off as a phony when he isn't acting this way, and in either case he seems tired and lazy.

Yeah, i can agree, mr. r can be a little haughty himself and has no salesmanship. I like to go when either of his sons are working. They are definitely easier to talk to.

But you stated before, there are gems at that store. Just yesterday they had a few pairs of Vapor 8s for $60 and CB 3.3s for $65. And youve mentioned before not returning to that store b/c of your experiences, but, somehow it always draws you in when everywhere doesnt have anything good.

Just came back from a visit to Atlanta. If anyone is near the Town Center SA or ....smith they both have great deals on clearance shoes.

I picked up 2 pairs of Adidas b6's from the smith for $59.59 tax included. They also had Nike 2k11's for $55.00 plus tax and Adidas b2's for $45.

At SA i picked up a pair of K-Swiss Big Shots for $60 plus tax and a pair of New Balance 1187's for $55 plus tax. They also have Babolat Propulse 2's, Adidas b5's, and Asic Gel Resolution III's for $60 per pair plus tax.

I bought most of the 11.5 and 12's I could find at both places. If you wear larger or smaller sizes there are still plenty available.

    Good Luck!

If any of y'all have an Academy in your area, they have Vapor 8s for $59-$69 depending on the color as well as the CB 4.3s for $100 (blue/white/green). Picked up a couple of pairs of Vapors and a pair of 4.3s. Vapor 8s are surprisingly wide. Love it.

:shock:WOW! Academy doing it big in your area. I might have to check my local ones here.

West Coast Ace- dope shirt:cool:. I noticed Rafa likes rocking the Running gear during practice sessions.

Maroon_tenniskid- I regret picking up another pair of those Nole/London genius'

FedererUberAlles- I have a similar situation w/ the owner of a local shop here as well. He talks down to everyone like your retarded. But I've come to accept it that he's just a plain jane a-hole. Other than that, his employees are knowledgeable and crank out my string jobs w/in 45 minutes

Checked out a couple of different Academy's today and they're all different. Some had a lot and some were bare. The one closest to me had Vapor 8s, Breath 2K11's, CB 4.3's, Asics GR4's, Prince T22's, and some mid-end Barricades and CBs. I tried the first 5 I listed and my favorite is definitely the Breath 2K11's with the Vapor 8's being a close second.

The Academy near me had the silver Vapor 8's for $60 and the red ones for $70, in limited sizes. I would've bought some but I'm a Courtballistec 3.3 guy and I found the blue 3.3's on G-Smith for under $70 (including shipping and tax).

They had some white/blue 3.3's at my "local" Nike outlet, $55, too bad I'd already burned a hole in my pocket :(
They also had Delpo's AO2012 crew, berdych's US2011crew, delpo's Vienna2011 crew, and surprisingly rafa's WTF crew (in purple) was the cheapest, at $30.
Nice to see tennis stuff at an outlet for once, but the adidas outlet had B7's for $140 and Ao2012 feathers (yellow/orangefade) for $100, on clearance.
