I know many people swear by these strings, and I am interested to try them out. However, I have heard that they are somewhat stiff. I am just wondering if there is any luxilon that is relativly softer. I am currently using Wilson Sensation, and like it for the most part. Is there any Luxilon that you guys( or girls) can think of thats somewhat softer?? sorry if this seems vague-thanks

BBO is "softer" than the ALU.

    To add..........

Hoodjem's numbers are a good source but just to add, if you are playing with Wilson Sensation with a stiffnes index of 209, the Alu Power Flouro 226 is closest to the Sensation feel in stiffness. Please keep in mind that Lux string tends to go dead rather quickly and can begin to feel stiffer. We only recommend these string to players who need more control or are chronic string breakers.

would puting gosen sheep micro 17 on the crosses make a big difference in comfort? Also would you reccomend puting gosen sheep micro 17 with blue gear as well?

I haven't played with it yet, but it looks and feels very nice. Feels softer than the Alu power for sure. It is very esthetically pleasing.....LOL..:)

Not softer, but certainly more lively. As for your second suggestion, yeah, why not?

I think Fedace is one of those psychics who "lays his hands" on string, and know how it plays. He did not need to string it up . . . of course.

I agree. I think he does that to racquets too. He can't possibly be a real tennis player, let alone a college level player and Stanford grad to boot.

By the way, many months back I had a buddy read some of Fedache's posts and he said no way did this fool graduate from Stanford. He read 2 posts.
My buddy is a Pepperdine grad.

    M2???

    Fedace,

I think we answerd your question in another thread but here's the quick review from our tests.

M2 is a third generation poly string made very similar to Gamma Zo Tour in that there are multi core strings encased in the poly string. The string is designed to give you touch and power on soft shots and control and spin on hard hit shots. It is also designed to hold tension better. We found in our testing that M2 has a similar feel as the traditional Alu string with good power, control and spin. However we did not get the additional power on touch shots that was reported, so it performed like a traditional Lux string. It does have better tension control and while it did go dead, we got about 12hrs of play before that happened. If you like the stiff feel of the Lux string, you will like M2 (Lux recommends 10% decrease in tension vs NG or multi tensions).

    Cheers, TennezSport

Can't believe Alu ruff is rated "softer"(less stiff) than BBO though 9 pts. isn't much. That alu stuff is like wire IMO and shreds balls to pieces.BBO has more of an elastic quality to it and tends to move around for a poly.

Luxilon strings are very stiff on average, and will play very differently from your Sensation. If you like Sensation, it doesn't make a lot of sense to switch, especially to a string so different. If I may ask, what are you looking to change about your string?

Relatively speaking, Alu Power Fluoro is definitely the softest of Luxilon's current strings, but still much stiffer/deader than Sensation. Poly is a string for players with fast/hard/long strokes who are looking for control and not power. As a few have mentioned, Lux is coming out with a new string called M2, but it's not officially on the market yet, and isn't the string you're hearing about.

I use that exact hybrid, Luxilon BB Alu Power on mains, Gosen sheep micro, but 16g. It feels ok, Ive never strung full Luxi though, but used to hybrid with Gosen Poly Ice 17 on mains and sheep micro 16g on crosses.

The LUxi setup w gosen crosses feels much better, try it out.

Why do you keep going on about that when you well know yourself you are lying. It's like you get off by making stuff up you're sick.

I´m in this forum for a while and read some posts. I absolutely agree: Feda(ss)ce posts are shallow-brained and childish. In my opinion: he´s a boastful and self-important person in this forum.
