does anyone think that Bartoli is a bit strange with the excessive fist pumping ( even right before a serve and even after a lost point) and the practice swings right before every serve? the fist pumping actually looks a bit more like an OCD... anyone agree on this here?

Female pros ought to watch videotapes of their fist-pumping and see if it looks good, because it looks terrible for most of them.

Case in point: Ivanovic--beautiful to watch until ... yes, the fist-pump. Yuk.

For girls, less motion on the fist-pumping the better. Watch Serena and Justine Henin. No funky motion. A simple fist up with a stare sends a strong, intimidating message.

yeah weird girl. I dunno, but I have this picture in my mind that she was the odd kid in school, the one with no friends who would go to the playground and pick bugs all day and talk to herself, and then come up with these outta-place, comments in the middle of a conversation.....
    strange girl.

Fluid? That girl could receive a penalty for cheating during the serve (LOL): she stops at the middle of her motion, and then suddenly serves. Very, very weird, kinda amateur, actualy. I don't know if you watch soccer, but you could compare her to the striker that fakes his shot when converting a penalty, just to wait for the goalkeeper to fall and then calmly choose a corner of the goal to shoot (this is a good example, because the striker misses it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHf40GdiEC0). But Bartoli's serve is quite uncommon as well.

I'd say she's all around one of the strangest professional tennis players I've ever seen, if not the strangest.

Her practice swings are freaking tiresome.

The serve is strange, but it's only her step-up. Just before she hits the ball she is actually in a pretty good form.

I should have recorded a couple points of Bartoli while watching the FO today. her fist pump is a little subtle, but is used exessively and almost every time the camera zooms in on her.

"Different" in womens tennis is welcome, as the players tend to be so similar in style.

I enjoy watching Bartoli because she is different. I think her father is a pretty different guy and she's just being a good daughter. Still, as she said, he got her to number 6 in the world - why would she not do what he says. There's no Dokic-type problems with him and, although it looks odd, her game is very effective and pretty sound.

i heard a story from one of the commentators about bartoli trying to lose some weight. she was successful but her father/coach thought it had negatively impacted her tennis game, so he advised her to abandon the weight loss program and put the weight back. so that's why bartoli is kinda chubby compared to the other wta players.

    Ivanovic's fist-pumps don't bother me, but Bartoli's "mini-pumps" drives me nuts... Lol.
