I don't know why the male tennis players insist on wearing such long shorts when they play. Does the ATP Tour have rules about this? Would it be against ATP rules if a player played a match in shorter shorts? How about allowing the guys to wear whatever they want on court? I remember a few years ago Tommy Haas wasn't allowed to wear a shirt at the US OPEN because it revealed his strong muscles. Men's fashion on the ATP Tour seems a bit restrictive, the guys need to spice it up a bit.

Wow a post that isn't about how sexist or racist we all are, kudos:)
I agree the baggy sloshy look is bad for aesthetics and the guys could stand to sex appeal up there side of the game too. What ever happened to Nadals sleeveless look showing his awesome biceps. Put the other guys to shame. Of course those long pants/shorts were another matter. We dot have to go back to 70s huggers but sheesh a nice 7inch inseam is plenty good. Thankfully a lot of players are wearing not so baggy shirts as late 90s and early 2000s. It's gotten better.

Personally, I think Nadal looked better wearing his longer shorts. All male players should wear longer shorts.

They shouldn't be forced to, but let the guys wear shorter, tighter, sexier clothing if that's what they want. The girls play up their sexuality a fair bit, so the guys should be given the chance to do the same.

Give the women and gay men better ogling material!

Why not just make them nike pro combat compression shorts and top. Just say it is more aerodynamic and promotes better circulation as well as core temperature control....etc.

I really think all male players should go back to wearing slacks while playing. Shorts are too revealing; who knows what sexual urges the men shall put on innocent damsels watching first a tennis match, but eventually two men with whom they might want to--eat dinner!

Alternatively, we could always just go back to the uniforms of Ancient Greek Olympians--nudity. Except apply it across all players. I'm sure that would a} go over really well, especially with parents, and b} ensure tennis sales never die.

There's an acceptable length, shorter than Nadal's pirate pants
    [IMG]

but longer than Djokovic's short shorts.

It looks like a sports bra that has been put on backwards. That giant X on his shirt is awful. Plus the colors suck as well.

I think its's alright :). I never pay too much attention to that kind of thing anyway I must say. The only kit I can think of that I found hideous was that bright yellow (and red)?) one Verdasco wore for all of one match a while ago.

I'm sure this will look good on Rafa

Why not? Bell bottom (boot cut) jeans from the 70's came back. Why not shorter tennis shorts?

I think fashion cycle is around 20 years. So It's about time the short shorts to return. I am not sure why the baggy shorts became the style - don't see any advantage in terms of mobility and they look stupid. Especially the skirt Pete Sampras used to wear!

Because today's bigger racquets only work with the longer, baggier shorts. I've heard so many people wearing the longer, baggier shorts say that they can't play with midsize racquets because they are too demanding for them. It must be the shorts! Back in the 80's and 90's, everyone wore the shorter shorts and they all used midsize racquets with no problems. So if you want to make midsize racquets much less demanding, just wear short shorts when you play with one. They will make you much more mobile so that using midsize racquets will no longer be a problem. :)

Funny that I have actually overheard an old guy (like 50+) in a local shop asking for "short shorts". "I need some real shorts, I can't wear these..."

But it's fashion, people. It comes and goes. It's quite safe to bet something popular 15 years ago would not be in anymore.

I actually think the 3/4 pants serves a purpose when playing in the cold. They cover your knees and keep them a little warmer.
