Must have been done this last summer. Rafa doesn't look so huge with his shirt off.

The place is beautiful but this ad is not a good job imo.Didn't like the music at all and shirtless Nadal on a boat is supposed to advertise Mallorca? How about the night life of Ibiza too no mention at all.Could be 1000 times better ad.

At least Safin doesn't have to worry about his uncle following him everywhere he goes.

everyone would be more interested in the night life than lookin at the chest of Nadal - well maybe TheLie and veronique disagree with this but it's true that the majority of people don't have any idea who Nadal is and all they see is an average looking man all smiling in a boat.If he was at least showing a little biceps it would be better.

Anyway,I have seen a LOT of ads for mediterranean islands that's why I believe I'm good judge on this.this is not a good ad.

This is only one from a series of ads. Shirtless Nadal may not be fascinating for you but advertisers who pay big bucks for it may know something about marketing. e.g Magazine covers.

...............and now that's supposed to be a better ad?

There are plenty of advertisements extremely expensive to film and still failures.Or are we supposed not to make judgement here??How many times haven't we all seen bad ads-that still "advertisers who pay big bucks for it and who may know something about marketing" have made? still I'm the customer here, the target group and so my opinion should matter more than the creator of this ad!

AND if me,who I am a huge tennis fan, don't find it nice to watch nadal's chest how do you think the people who don't even KNOW who nadal is will think??

Notice that the ad is german  lol there is a german popular joke : if you go to Ibiza you will fall into your neighbours.

yup.Verdasco would be much better for this ad!But I guess since it's Nadal who's the local boy here they chose him.:/

I didnt say that's suppose to be a better ad. The Point was they make different types of ads for whatever they are marketing. You may be a huge tennis fan but I dont think you represent a huge part of the ad's audience. Me for one liked the music and the ad, and Nadal was featured only for few seconds, and it makes perfect sense, being a celebrity and living in Mallorca. Probably biggest celebrity that island ever had.

oh yes,I just said my opinion-but from your previous response I got that I shouldn't even HAVE an opinion on this..
I just said that with what they had to advertise the final result could be much better. Why I don't represent a huge part of the ad's audience?I for one, spend EVERY summer vacation and for at least a month every year of my life in an island in the mediterranean and the rest summer vacation I spend in countries of Europe where I travel.I already have been in Spain and plan to revisit soon. Can you claim the same?:)

yes it's the biggest celebrity the island ever had I never claimed otherwise.I still imo is not a big enough celebrity for the average man to recognise when they see him smiling bare-chested on a boat.

    There you go,

You dont know zip about marketing. This ad is targeted at people who never been there, not at those who go there every year, duh?
Just another reason you don't represent a huge part of the audience.

BTW You can have any opinion you want malakas, or any chest you want to look at.
    Just suite yourself.
    :)

Hm.I don't know what is the specific target audience for thsi ad,maybe it's americans or northern europeans maybe not.I don't see how it would appeal more to them this ad,and I still can't explain it.:-?
You would be suprised for how many ads we have here of other mediterannean countries.Flooded.So maybe we're a big target too,we the other mediterraneans.Which would be very wise decision since it costs half the cost to spend my summer in mallorca than in the island next door.

hehehee  this isn't a personal attack at Nadal's chest.I just have been the receiver of thousand of ads for mediterranean island from many countries that's why I said my opinion like this.
Nadal can go ahead and pose barechested as much as he wants,as far as I'm concerned.I fully condone it and support it!

Majorca is the place I have been back to because it is really enchanting. If you want the night life then Palma and lots of the resorts. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the island then take the train to Soller from Palma. Problem is Majorca can get very crowded in kids hols. There is something there for everyone. Wish they had tournaments there because its such a great place. Can quite see why Rafa doesn't want to live elsewhere

Yeah. Malakas wondering why look at Rafa's tanned, smooth chest and chiseled nose when instead he can look at Rogi's hairy, furry, semi pasty chest and large snozzle

I'm sold. It's the only ad for mallorca i've ever seen and I'm
Seeing it because I'm a tennis fan. So it's definitely working by reaching a new audience

    Great marketing!

The islands look beautiful and interesting.

    Nadal looks fabulous, as usual.

    A win-win for the marketers.

Federer wouldn't make a good barechested model in an ad about mediterranean islands either. BUT of course you had to mention didn't you?You always mention him,you can't stand if a thread about Nadal,or smth completely different alltogether doesn't have Fed in him.
Now who's got the man-crush here? and I'm a she.

It is a beautiful island indeed. As long as you manage to avoid the beaches & tourist resorts that is, unless you enjoy the sight of endless numbers of Brits, Scandinavians, Germans & otherwise baking into lobsters.

The INLANDS of the island are gorgeous. Great place to go hiking! :)

Mallorca is a beautiful island. Go there quite regularly esp port of pollensa. Its lovely. Minorca is also nice but a bit flatter than Mallorca. Im lucky I have friends who have villas on both islands and i get to go for free,
Tennis is great, beaches amazing, weather real good, food and wine super duper.
Me and the missus might move there for a year to chill and get a tan.
To those US folks forget Nadals chest and try some of Europe's delights.

Ibiza is over commercialised, Majorca is the best of the Balearic Islands.

Yep. Mallorca is spoilt by all the tourism, sad but true, not much unlike Hawaii for the US folks.

There must be a good reason why Rafa bought himself an estate in the Dominical Republic not that long ago. LOL.

It's kind-of cheesy, I'd say (music really sux), and the long theme of an occasionally interspersed unanimated Rafa with others dancing and running and swimming is not super compelling to me. Why isn't he dancing and running and swimming?? More injuries???....:)

But I honestly love to see Rafa promoting his own 'hood. It's not his fault the videomaker ain't all that creative.
