You know what time it is, as always I'll start a TW bracket on ESPN for anyone that wants to join, once the selections are made. Let's get it!

Don't blast me as putting Michigan as the champion lol... None of the teams this year are "unstoppable" like kentucky was last yr. I see Gonzaga getting upset early, and Louisville has almost no chance of making to the FF. Toughest draw, Duke possible in the finals and many other good teams before duke.

Its a pivk em for sure.

I think St Louis is really good though. And the whoel Majerus inspiration story will carry them deep.

I think GTown has the most well rounded player in the country and got them running the table and cuttin down the nets.

I'm going with an outside shot, The U / Miami. A choice more based on sentiment than logic. :)

MIA won regular season and postseason ACC Titles. If the jerseys said Duke or UNC on them they would be a 1 seed.

Im pulling for them al little. Ive just been really liking G'Town. JT III is a great coach, and like the way his teams play.

I can't believe CBS pundit Seth Davis (and another guy-don't know his name) is picking the Lobos to go to the Final Four. I'll be happy if we can get past the second round. Glad to see that our conference (the Mountain West) is pretty well-represented. Still having a hard time accepting the fact that Kentucky's not playing this year. Like I said in the other thread I'm surprised at the "(American)football" schools-Miami (Fl), Wisconsin, U. of Mississippi, etc-that were selected.

Please tell me I am reading this wrong - you don't think Miami (Fl) should have gotten into the tournament? Could you clarify that last sentence?

    Nah man.

He's just trying to say schools that are thought of as football first are actually diong OK. If MIA were duke or UNC they would be a 1 seed. So that should surprise noone that they are in Same with WI. They have been in more often than not under Bo Ryan i think. Miss I dont know, they havent been good at anything for a while.

    Not a problem. :)

Interesting to see how things turn out. Was surprised to see Miami was 3rd behind IU and Louisville as far as people picking them to win it all.

Not so fast! How about Harvard! Thankfully I didn't have NM going past Sweet 16. First big upset of the tourney (after Davidson choked it away)

That was amazing!!!! Though Harvard is like Belmont, a mid-major team who can shoot the 3. If they are on their game we'll loose. The upsets usually are dealt by a team who has a hot hand at the time and is raining 3s for fun.

Maybe Kelly Olnick (spelling?) can go cut his hair now. Seriously, when I saw his picture in one of the newspapers I thought he was a girl! Didn't watch my Lobos but apparently they couldn't shoot straight-my auntie was saying that all those pundits that picked them to go to the Final Four probably "jinxed" them.

How can Florida Gulf Coast have more high flying white guys than the rest of the country has been able to find for the last 20 years?

Also, how could Brown have zero other offers coming out of high school? Hes been more impressive than any of the first team all americans like Porter of G'town and Zeller of IU.

LOL at brown better than porter comment. Also you can't even compare brown and zeller, totally different players.

I know they are different players but they were both on 1st team all american lists, and I didnt say Brown was better than Porter, I said he was more impressive in these IMPORTANT tournament games. If you didnt know better, you would never have thought Porter would be mentioned as even an honorable mention all american because in that game against UFGC he played pathetic.

I mean he had 13 points. Didn't shoot great but had 11 rebounds, a steal, a block and more assists than turnovers. I'd say he played better vs fgcu than the ot loss vs Syracuse. He's only a sophomore too. He will get better in the big games.

The tournament is probably the second biggest and most popular sporting event in the U.S. Which is saying something since the country basically shuts down for the superbowl.

The strange thing is, the popularity of the event has almost nothing to do with the love of the sport of basketball. It has everything to do with the love of gambling, and the single elimination format (a huge factor in the popularity of the nfl IMO). Every dork in the US joins an office pool and very often the least knowledgeable do very well in the pools.

Therefore, I shy away from following the tournament even though I'm a huge basketball fan and have played and followed the sport for most of my life.

    ---

As far as the game itself, there has been a gradual drop off in the athleticism of ncaa basketball, and the athletic difference between nba players and college players continues to diverge.

It's almost like watching two different species of humans playing the same sport. The height, length, grace and athleticism of nba players is so far removed now from that of college players, I often can't bring myself to watch college ball anymore, even if I try to force myself to.

College players seem oddly earth bound, slow as molasses, and seem to have ridiculously short arms and slow motion reflexes.

Watching freaks like durant, lebron, d. rose, westbrook, j. lin, kobe, among others and then watching the relatively short, slow pokes which populate the college game is really quite strange.

But man, I hope I can love college bball again; the fanaticism and devotion of the alums is great.

And there is NOTHING in basketball which matches the grandeur of seeing the final 4 being played in enormous 70,000 seat coliseums. Amazing.

I tell myself every year, that always pencil Pitino and Izzo in for sweet 16 if they are higher than a 4 seed. Then I got cute and jumped on the St Louis wagon.

Then I got cute and penicled GTown in to go deep. As the matchups came I started liking GTown more and More. But JT III has proven to me his teams sttle lends itself to the upset. The grind it out and win close games worked when he had Hibbert and Jeff Green. Those guys should have won a title though. Im dont with GTown and will never pencil them in for more than 1 win on any bracket I fill out from here on out. Unless they get Hibbert and Jeff Green back.

I'm sorry. But did you really just put Jeremy Lin with lebron and durant, etc. when talking about athletic freaks? C'mon man. Also what do you want from college players? Not all go to the nba. Most stop at college. It's basically like the ohl and the nhl.

He probably got half of his points in garbage time when the outcome was over. He stunk it up and if you cant even admit that then I'd hate to see how bad he'd have tpo play for you to actually admit that.

He shot bad that was it. Just like ADF said. His points were spread out and not in garbage time at all.

The entire team shot bad. Once they went on that 5Min stretch in the 2d half of no FGs they started pressing too hard. GT aint a come from behind team to begin with. Once they were down 10 with 10 to play it was over.

Florida Gulf Coast is the story of the tourney but the biggest thing about them that I cant believe is that with how they look in the tourney, how on earth could they have lost twice to a school right down the street from me here in nashville that isnt any good? David Lipscomb stinks this year yet best them twice.
