Well that's why the NFL is so big too. The NFL would be nothing if it wasn't for gambling, there's a reason ESPN, FOX, CBS, et. all. all have shows devoted every Saturday evening and Sunday morning JUST devoted to who's out injured and what the updated lines are. Yeah it's what makes the Tourney so big but there would be passion regardless due to the history of the sport at a collegiate level.

Fantasy football also has helped expand the popularity of the NFL over the past 10 years or so. Not saying that gambling isn't also a part of it, it's definitely the biggest one with FF being up there as well.

NFL is easy to follow. Its easy to watch on TV. You only have to devote 1 day to watching the games. Thats why NFL works so well for people. Baseball and Basketball or harder to keep up with.

NCAA dont amtter, Its all about the brackets. You dont need to know who LaSalle is. You just have to get lucky and pick them as your 13seed 1st round upset.

Can't believe Marquette is in the elite 8. One of the worst teams I've seen this year. This is what pisses me off about college ball. Miami goes ice the first half gets down big and can't comeback. Out of nowhere a team just can't hit anything and its over. Almost a little too flukie. Props to the orange zone. Geez...

Buckeyes win on another late trey! Don't see them needing more heroics Saturday vs Wichita State.

'Cuse made the Hoosiers look rather ordinary and removed the second #1 seed.

'Canes mightily missed their starting big man.

Hope Friday's games have a little more drama. Oregon could test the 'Ville but Pitino's Birds should prevail. Kansas needs more from McLemore this weekend. And, of course, FGCU's high flyers must play lights out to keep on going!

Man, CBS did a great job of putting the marquee matchups on friday's card rather than on thursday's lol.

I did enjoy watching 'cuse play defense. They're actually starting to remind me of the old school JT hoyas...never liked boeheim much; always thought of him as a scummy recruiter like calipers, but I have to admit the orange are playing as well as any team in the tourney right now.

A better reference point are his peers at the point. Compare their bam scores here:

I dont see the Boheim Calipari Comparison. Ive always held Boheim in high regard as a coach. He hasnt high tailed it out of town while his old place gets busted with sanctions.

Ive never been big on Calipari. Never liked those UMASS teams of his, and it went from there.

Its proabbly more the coaching style than the recruiting part though

Why did I buy intothe Hoosier Hype. I would have a perfect bracket in Cuse region if not for that so far. I had that game a tuff one and just kinda flipped a coin.

Oh Well Wasnt gonna win this thing once FGCU go to rollin. And STL lost.

Still pretty respectable bracket for me other than those two dudds.

Another night of seeing the "all american" flop. Zeller looked about as bad as humaly possible last night, McLemore has looked like he belonged in high school still and Porter in his one game was embarassing. I know the college game has gone down since the 80s but how can the all Americans be so mediocre in the bigggest games of the year?

Ohio State were just better than we were. It was so sad to watch, we're crap. Nowhere near "good enough".

Indiana should never have been ranked #1. They're not good enough either, I don't think.

Last week was a surprising no-show for him. He has, possibly, four games to redeem his value in the NBA draft, which is a big-money issue to get some motivation...his family's financial plight makes him a certain one-and-done candidate for the draft.

Mclemore is having a pretty good game tonight, their biggest game of the season. He's only a freshman. Lets just relax a bit here.

What holla? They were getting dominated all game. Kansas missed a lot of shots late and Burke got hot (and Michigan seeing as they went on a nice run late). Good comeback but definitely not deserved.

Jayhawks definitely pulled an Al-choke-gro but props to Burke for nailing the NBA-trey to tie it in regulation. It takes a fold and clutch play on the other side to whittle a 10-point lead down to nothing in two minutes.

So an All American has 1 good game out of 3 and that impresses you?

Unbelievable respect for how the Louisville Cardinals responded after seeing a teamate suffer as gruesome an injury as you will ever see. They truly have played like a number 1 seed and I hope they finish it now after rising like they have.

Going to have some pretty good games in Atlanta. Looking forward to Michigan/Syracuse. Given the circumstances I'm going to stay away from Wichita State/Louisville-whoever loses that one is going to be pretty emotional.......

From the moment Kansas's Elijah Johnson punched Mitch McGary in the crotch and ran away to giggle about it with his teammates, Michigan deserved to win. KU's recent teams have been goon-heavy.

What ever happened to college and university being role models to their student body?

I know many people enjoy college athletics, good for you and keep cheering for your team. However, I think the media and marketing exposure is putting so much pressure for these kids to perform, it becomes easy for a corrupted individual to go down the wrong path.

The incident with Rutgers, Mike Rice is in the wrong, that much is obvious. But what about the officials responsible for him? Rutgers' president for example, why wasn't Rice fired on the spot after "supposedly" viewing the videos back in December? He either didn't watch the tape, which is negligence. Or he watched it and didn't see it as a fireable offense, which is poor judgement.
