Maria Kirilenko's knee patella band

    I have always thought the yellowish knee patella bands that the pros wear are some special sports bands...

    Looks like it's just normal sports tape rolled up....

    its prewrap, goes on to protect the hair on your skin from getting pulled off when you take tape off...regular athletic tape is too thick to roll up like that

    Once I asked an ATP trainer about the tape they use for this. It is and elastic tape called Tensoband and it doesn't have any glue on it. Well at least this is the case down here.

    does anyone have more info on that tape, i tried google but found nothing, i saw kirilenko put that on at the ao but no one seems to know what it is exactly.

    Its just called prewrap and is available at any sports medicine supply place. google prewrap or athletic prewrap. or go to a place like ithacasports dot com. My daughter who plays college tennis has done the same thing for years. It comes in tons of color and as was noted earlier is used as a pre-wrap to athletic tape so that the athletic tape is easier to remove.
