So my friend is a Hingis fan. She likes her intelligent game, even plays with a RQS11 but the choice wasn't based on Martina endorsing that frame.

She asked me: Soooo... what did Martina actually use on the Tour?
And I was a bit stunned because I'm sure she used a Yonex RD Pro 70 Long 105 and a RQS11, and the blacked out Babolat but that's about it... and she used Voelkl before Yonex which I know absolutely nothing about.

I'd ask if any of our knowledgeable posters could shed some light on this...

This is what I came up so far...
    ???
Pro RD 70 Long 105 - promoted the 95 version though...
    SRD Tour 95
    RD 7
    MP5iHS
    RQS 11
    Blacked out Babolat...
RQiS Tour-2 - designed for Hingis but never used...

    Thanks!

P.S.: Info about strings and tension would also be nice ;)

In the Juniors she used Voelkl V1.

    Also:
    Yonex SRQ 500
    Yonex SRQ Ti 700 Long
    Yonex V Con 17
    Yonex NSRQ 7

She used VS Gut full bed and then switched to RacquetFuel full bed. Hingis Then went to a hybrid of Babolat Pro Hurricane in the mains and VS Gut in the cross. Also used RacquetFuel in the mains and VS Gut in the cross. According to teh USRSA equipment Logs.

    Thank you very much vsb!

So if memory serves me right it should go like this...
    Voelkl V1
    RD 7
    SRD Tour 95
Pro RD 70 Long 105 - promoted the 95 version though...
    Yonex SRQ 500
    Yonex SRQ Ti 700 Long
    MP5iHS
    Yonex V Con 17
    Yonex NSRQ 7
    RQS 11
    Blacked out Babolat...
RQiS Tour-2 - designed for Hingis but never used...

vsbabolat do you happen to know what RacquetFuel strings did she use? Thx!

This is terrible to say and I had never thought of it until you made me think of it, but after spending a number of years coaching at Saddlebrook/Hopman Academy back in the late 90's and early 2000's and hitting with Hingis hundreds of times, I never, ever once paid any attention to the racquets she used or the strings. I must have picked up that white Yonex 50 times over the course of those years and never once paid attention to her string set up or her frame choice except for the fact that it was a Yonex. That's pretty weak isn't it? Geez.

Couple changes made...also, Martina used the Yonex Poly Tour 125 for her gut hybrid as well.

    Thanks guys!

Swan Song 2 questions if I may... where would you put the RDX 300 in this list? And secondly when did Hingis use RQiS Tour 1 XL 100??? I think she quit the tour before it came out... please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Voelkl V1
    RD 7
    Yonex SRQ 500
    SRD Tour 95
Pro RD 70 Long 105 - promoted the 95 version though...
    Yonex SRQ Ti 700 Long
    MP5iHS
    Yonex V Con 17
    Yonex NSRQ 7
    RQS 11
    Blacked out Babolat...
RQiS Tour-2- she did use it in her last few matches
    RQiS Tour 1 XL 100

Once again THANKS! I'd still be in the woods if it wasn't for you! :)

I think The RDX 300 comes in after the VCon 17 before the NSRQ7. I think the Blacked out Babolat at the 2007 U.S. Open was a Aero ProDrive......

If you check the Roland Garros Facebook page, there is a footage of Martina hitting with Camille Pin. The 100 in2 is only a speculation based on the current trends of racquets being used by her.

Here is a list of what she used since 1994 ( she went pro at the end of 96)

    1. Volkl Catapult V1
    2. Yonex Pro Rd-70 long 105
    3. Yonex SRQ Ti 700 Long
    4. Yonex RQ Ti-1700 Midplus
    5. Yonex MP-5 HS
    6. Yonex V-Con 17 Midplus
    7. Yonex RDX 300
    8. Yonex RQS 11
    9. Babolat Pure Drive Cortex Paintjob
    10. Yonex RQiS XL 95 ( During retirement and WTT)
    11. Yonex Ezone 100 - Will start using this coming month for doubles.

All her racquets are long ( 27.5-28" ); used full VS gut at 62 lbs till 2007.
Then she experimented with Poly on the mains - Starting with Yonex 125, Babolat Pro Hurricane.
I have all of the above racquets ( in stock form) and none of them play even close to each-other.
    I hope this helps

You already have the Ezone 100?
If so please elaborate on how it plays and which Yonex racquet it plays similar too.
    Thanks.

I remember Martina saying that she really didn't care what racquet she was using because they're all the same to her. And that as long as the racquet looks good, she's okay.

You are missing the Yonex Super RQ-500

And you are missing the Yonex Super RD Tour 95.

Oh I also forgot that Volkl did not have Catapult grommets back in 1994. Hingis just used the Original V1 or Vario 1

I'm going to disagree with you and say it suggests an admirable on-court priority. I know what you mean, though: I find the classic racquets of yore a lot more interesting now than I found them at the time.
