Medvedev will be plagued with injuries.

I'm predicting Medvedev, with his game style and never say die attitude, his body will not cooperate... UNLESS he changes up his game style like he did later in the final by coming into net more. He serve is great, perfect height. If he takes advantage of his serve and backs it up at the net, he may just be unstoppable. His baseline game is great, but how long can he keep that up? I say his plan A should be serve/volley. Plan B - baseline defense. Best of both worlds.

Is it because of his game style or height?

Nadal and Djokovic have pretty brutal game styles and they have proved longevity and dominance like no other.

With improved training and conditioning, Medvedev could be of the same genre.

Definitely think you are right about improving his net game and coming in more. I also think he needs to go slightly bigger and use less top spin at times.

A few tweaks here and there and he will be a beast.

The height is a killer. Not many can maintain the same level of movement and stay healthy. Maybe he can, but not the same likelihood as a Djoker or Rafa.

Yes, his height would make serve and volley more efficient. His game he has now, although he is great at it... I don't see it lasting. He's got a grinder mindset and heart, but IMO he would be better suited with an offensive attacking game. Go back to defense as a last resort, but he's got the mental toughness and that mentality combined with a big offensive game would make things easier for him.

He needs to step in a lot more. Be far more aggressive rather than standing so far back on second serves. He's got more improvements to make and then he could be something special.

I really hope he keeps improving - it's a pleasure to watch him play. Very loose and relaxed. Didn't do too bad for a guy who seemed to be cramping in the 3rd earlier in the tournament!

Serve and volley is dead and won't be coming back while there are pros with 100 square inch racquets and poly strings.
