Well, sock choked. All he had to do was hold serve.

Sock looks like he's going to win this, but he doesn't look very fit out there. I haven't watched the entire match, but what I've seen over the past 20 minutes hasn't been all that physical, and he's just a huffing and a puffing out there.

Seems like he has a pretty good chance to make the finals.

That would put him in the top 100. All he has to do is get pass a Spanish guy and possibly the sleeveless one.

If Sock can beat Lopez he has a good chance at the finals. I dont think Cilic will win this tho.

What happened to Tommy? He had a really good chance to get to the final in his half...

Massacre in Memphis!!!! Five Americans go down, Young, Querrey, Williams, Blake and Haas (by naturalization). Two US winners (Sock over Blake and "the sleveless one" over Kubot). Querrey really has to be demoralized . . . losing to a nobody on US hard courts in a weak field . . . Well at least Sock and Williams are competing in ATP tournaments, maybe there is hope. Russell is really a testament to amazing dedication, dude also got a BS in business last year.

It would be nice for Russell to finally win a tournament.

Come on, neither him or Sock are going to win it. Nishikori is still it in and he's a boss, and Cilic is still there too. It's good for these guys to be getting decent wins but I can't see them winning here..

If James Ward can make an ATP Semi Final then Sock can make a final and if all goes well win it, unlikely but not impossible, Cilic has not been playing well but the draw has opened up now so you have to favour him to win the tournament

I think Cilic is going to beat Nishikori pretty easily.

I miss the days 3 months ago where Nishikori was the man on these forums. Since then he's lost to Murray and Ferrer and we're over him. He could easily beat Sock. Eyes shut.

People probably said Raonic could beat Sock with his eyes shut but it did not happen!

Not syaing Sock to win it, but just find your attitude towards one of the games rising stars a little arrogant.

Then we're on the same page - I was counteracting those saying here that he could win this thing by saying that kind of talk was a bit premature; sure he's in the quarter finals and has done really well, but I this tournament is a bit too early for him to win.

I'd love to be proved wrong, and you'll see in another thread that I really like the kid, but I'm not quite convinced he's ready to be considered as one of the rising stars. I think we throw that tag around a bit too liberally.

Also, how is Lopez's form lately? Should Sock beat him tonight?

No problem - I think we both did. I was mainly raging at how fickle this place is; always desperate for the next 'big thing' to come through. I understand it to a degree, but it leads to over-expectation for some of the younger ones.

The real question is, would John Isner win this tournament? :)

I'm never going to understand women's tennis. Lisicki goes down 2-5 only to win 5 straight games to take the first set.

Last time I saw him play, Jack Sock's backhand was an atrocity. Has he improved it at all or is this just a lucky run?

Anyone watching Nishikori - Cillic? Nishikori broke in the first game, 1-0 right now. Stadium is empty..

Completely regret betting on Cilic. He looks terrible out there. WTF is wrong with his serve?

That's a dangerous pick, Nishikori leads the h2h 2-0 (including Brisbane this year) and is 4-0 in sets. The Dog can win ofcourse, but he'll need to bring his A game then.

I think Kei will win the title.

Dude don't do it. It's never certain but Nishikori is solid and looked great today. I remember him as someone solid but with rather weak and unexplosive shots. Well.. he was slapping those groundstrokes today. It would take a very good player to beat Nishikori and I don't see Dolgopolov doing it. I usually don't give advice like this because I'm afraid I'll be wrong but I advice you to not bet "huge" on dolgo

If he was going to bet huge on Dolgo against Nishikori, he probably also put money on Dolgopolov to win this match..
