These pics were taken about an hour ago at the Men's Claycourt Championships in Houston. Right now qualifying is going on. I will keep you updated with new pics.

I know these pics aren't as good as phamsters but i did my best w/my kodak 8.2mp 3x optical pocket sized camera. I will bring the SLR tomorrow w/the wide angle lens.

Ernest Gulbis was practicing with Rainer Schuettler

Did you happen to notice who, if anyone, was coaching Ginepri? Jose Higueras is in Estoril coaching Federer this week.

Can you play on those courts?

Or is it a private club that you have to be a member of?

    They look really nice!

yeah, my friend and i are going to hit on them tomorrow. he said he hit on them today, but i got there 2 hours late. i think you can only play on the courts during the tournament..when courts are empty and people are walking around...but during the regular season i'm pretty sure you have to be a member.

sorry fee...i saw a coach on court w/neps but it wasn't jose higueras for sure. I would have recognized him otherwise. It was a coach i don't know.

it was the coaches bag. You can see him in the 2nd picture.

Hey LeeLord, where is this event taking place?
I was in Houston last year for the event at Mattress Mac's place and I understood that was going to be the last time they held the event there.

It's nice that this new place has red clay for the players to play on. I thought it was silly last year that the event was played on green clay.

It's at River Oaks Club, where the River Oaks international used to be played (the exo tournament before the Clay Courts). Remember a few years back when Pete played Ginepri in an exo? That was at River Oaks. :)

(I'm not Leelord, but he doesn't seem to be around at this moment, so hope it's okay for me to answer in his place).

^^^:) got that right fee. I was out shopping. just got back and watching davis cup now.

btw, here's a link to the address if you want to go. its free parking in the neighborhood. http://www.riveroaksinternational.com/default.asp?id=31
the address is at the bottom of the page. I love this facility better than westside. it has more of that "back yard" feel and is very special.

i'm going tomorrow at 11am and will take some more pictures. hopefully will get some of tommy haas and other players. and i'm bringing my tripod. :)

    More pics from today:
you heard it from me first. Watch out for Ryan Harrison. He's a very talented American. Huge serve and great court sense and HUGE off the ground as well. Just been dominating his opponents and is just 15 years old.

Can you make these clickable thumbnails? They are far too big for my screen and it diminishes the effect to not be able to see the whole photo at once. (I hope that makes sense).

yeah, i might do that. i will just change the resolution on photobucket to well under 1mb. I found it kind of annoying too with these oversized pics. they're more for close up racket pics, not players.

actually i'm getting sleepy...If i have free time tomorrow I will change the old pics size to 640 x 480 but from here on out for sure, new pics will be message board sized.

yeah, the river oaks tennis tournament has always been on red clay. The men's CC moved from westside tennis club (which last year used green clay) to river oaks (which have always used red clay).

Vince needs to switch to O3 racket then maybe he can win another tournament before his career is over.

maybe Juan Carlos Ferrero should switch too. the o3 has too much power and i think thats why the bryans have been losing lately, they've been hitting a lot of shots long which i think would have been in if they were playing w/wilson.

Oh yea,,,then why did Davydenko win his first masters shield with the new O3 frame ?? Nicolai said only reason he won is cause he switched rackets. he said his new racket raised game about 1-2 levels...:)

    Hey Leelord,

do you have tickets for all these days or are you buying a ground pass? I have tickets to Fri afternoon session, but was thinking of going out tomorrow to watch some outside court action if there is any. Can you fill me in on how that works? Where have you been parking? Is there any reason to go if I do not have tics to the actual session? Any other advice? Thanks in advance...

^^^hi, grounds passes are FREE!!! I haven't spent a penny (except on food/merchandise etc...) Just hang out and watch the pros practice and watch the outside court matches all for free. btw, parking is free as well...I have just been parking on inwood drive along the street. It is about a 1/4 mile walk to my car but its worth it.
