You guys are pathetic. What if 50% of HC events were played on indoor hard? More grass and less clay? Nadal would not look as grand as he does.

So now, with such a small part of the season (and by the way, the best measure of pure tennis skill is indoors where the elements do not affect the ball, just your strokes) you want him to skip it because he has never been dominant on it? Before you start arguing about this, just don't since anyone with half a brain would understand that no wind and true bounces = pure skill without outside influence.

You guys are jokes. I am sure Rafa himself would be disappointed in his weak fans.

Yeah and if there were less hardcourts, Fed, Murray, or Cvac wouldn't look as grand as they do, either. Dumb logic is dumb.

And him skipping the WTF is a good idea this year. His schedule is jam packed and something has to give. He cannot play all of these tournaments and expect to be able to turn up at the AO in any decent shape.

The guy is barely ever injured. He for whatever reason makes it seem like he is dying and he isn't, but you guys are so delusional...it isn't even worth it anymore. You truly think anyone that was nearing career threatening injury would return playing like that? hahahahahahahha, seriously you guys please my god.

And no, it isn't dumb logic. 1/4 of season for each? Ahhha but it isn't. Clay 2/5, Hard 2/5, Grass 0.1/5, 0.9/5 (Indoor hard)

The best part is I am not taking anything away from the guy since he is insanely good, but you all seem to think that because he is now winning HC majors and tournaments when Djoko is having a mediocre year, Fed is very old, and Murray is being typical Murray, that Nadal is suddenly an all-court master, ala Laver.

    Get REAL PEOPLE.

Please. Nadal has wasted more time out injured than any other top player playing right now throughout his career. He is injured constantly, and unless you live under a rock somewhere, was just out for 8 months with a bum knee. He simply cannot play a heavy schedule full of needless tournaments and exos at the end of the year and expect to go into next year healthy and mentally fresh. I've been a Nadal fan long enough to know that if he plays his schedule as is for the rest of this season, next year will be a huge disappointment in one way or another. It happened in 2011 after a successful 2010, and is also happened in 2009 after a successful 2008. Nadal is too injury prone and streaky to keep up this form for much longer.

from the way it looks right now, all this is really about the Australian open.

he is going for it by playing a lot of hard court matches.

we just hope he does not destroy his knee in the process because that will end his career this time around.

a much safer route is to target the channel slam for the next 2 years. that gives him the 4 slams he needs and it saves the knees.

Lmao!! Nadal's season is a 100% success no matter if he wins another match or not. The WTF would be a GREAT bonus and nice way to cap off the end in style but it's his yeah regardless of the WTF winner. That said, it's hard for me to see him not winning given his form and the other's form.

Really? I would have thought Nadal fans would be proud of how their idol never gives up and not encourage him to do so. That is was I admire in him most, despite not being a fan. Wanting him to give up on WTF seems contrary, especially since this is his best shot.

Now that is said like a true fan. Why can't he win it all, especially given his current form and others' slumps as well.

He should play the event. I think he can still have a month rest before the AO. So no need to skip the WTF.

It's a bit of a disgrace that a man who has won 13 slams has never won the WTF.

Nadal definitely needs to show up and make his case that he can win major events on all surfaces.

I wouldn't mind if he skipped it either. It's not like he needs the money. WTF is for people like Nalbandian and Davydenko to get some spotlight.

LOL how pathetic. His own fans know their hero can't play through an entire season but will deny it if you question them with it.

What Nadal needs to really skip is his love of seafood.

It's full of toxins, thanks to industrial pollutants and consumer waste.

A toxic diet is as deleterious to recovery from intense exercise.

You can't build, and maintain, a strong house [e.g. body] on a bad foundation. [e.g. toxic diet]

A change in his diet might even make him less idiosyncratic, possibly even to the point that he stops mindlessly picking at his backside (to put it nicely) every fricking chance he gets.

Nadal might not like WTF, but he doesn't view the event with nearly as much contempt as some of his fans do. Nadal put in a damn solid effort in 2010. In 2011 he looked short on confidence. I think he will definitely try to win it this year.

Hard to ' play through an entire season' when you win so much, you end up playing more matches than normal.

The canard of 'can't play through an entire season' is just another desperate attempt to deflect from the fact that Nadal is BOAT this year, 'but will deny it if you question them'.

Because he was extremely lucky to win both FO and USO this year and no one has that much luck. It will turn her back to him soon.

That and the fact that Djokovic is unbeatable at AO, lucky or not.

I believe AO 's surface speed is between french open and US open (correct me if i'm wrong) therefore Nadal can win. What you call "luck" i call it "psychological advantage". :)

AO is a lock indeed. WTF I am not so sure, Novak's mind might be in the Davis cup final already at that time.

"Ajde Brigade" are Ana's fans not Novak's :) Novak never says "Ajde".

Novak may not say "Ajde" but his fans do all the time just so they have a "Vamos" of their own.

I like Ana :) so Ajde for her! Does she still live in Serbia or like Novak is somewhere like Monte Carlo where she can save money from taxes?

As for the AO, doubt it's a lock for Novak this time. He got taken to the distance vs Wawrinka last time. Nadal and Murray are much better than Stan the man.

Look Fed never won the Olympics ....do you see anyone having to try and prove that the Olympics is prestigious ? No .....you don't need to ......everyone knows the Olympics even more than say the Australian open ......

Now ask the general public about the WTF .....even posters here at TW have been calling it the "WTA".

    It's entertaining and fun.....but it's means zero.

    What a ridiculous post.

"Tennis made its debut at the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. It was played at the Olympics until 1912 and then discontinued. Tennis returned to the Olympics as a demonstration sport (no medals awarded) in 1968 and 1984 and regained full status in 1988 and has been played in each Olympics since."

Tennis has no real history as far as the Olympics go.

TDK logic needs Jmac talking it up and Nadal winning it to make it considered something. Comparing the Olympics to the AO wtf is that lol. Comparing one tennis event to a world athlete competition.

So why bother to start this thread and even chime in, right? As I said, if that's a walk in the park for Rafa, then let's play it. Stop making excuses in advance such as resting for AO (that starts 2 months later! Wow, I didn't know that Rafa needs such a long rest now that he's healthy). If he truly needs rest, then why not skip everything until FO. See how ridiculous that argument sounds!
Now tell me something my friend, when Roger was in his prime, did you read on this forum someone suggested "Roger, please skip the WTF to rest for AO, you don't need that exho". Enlighten me, please.

Really then why have you cut warwinka out of the picture ?.

Lets face it ....singles gold > doubles gold.

And that is precisely why warwinka is cut out of the picture .

Only TDK, TV and some idiots persist to make a difference between the gold medal won in single and double at AO. It's like saying all the gold medals that Usain Bolt won in the relay events are less prestigious than those he won in solo sprint! Humm, never saw a single journalist, amateur, pro, or anyone make that argument, did you?

It obviously makes a difference to you as aebery picture posted cuts warwinka out and makes it look like fed won a gold in singles which he did not .

So a gold medal in all team events at OG such as gymnastics, football, track&field and so on is all less than a gold medal in single? Did you think that gold medals that Usain Bolt won in his relay events were less impressive/less prestigious/less meaningful than those he won in solo sprint?
If you answer "yes", then that just shows how shallow your understanding about gold medals (or any medal in that matter) won in OG mean.

Ohh, and did he win AO? HUmm, why not just rest till FO, roll out of bed and collect the trophy? Perhaps have it sent to his home and skip playing as well? You read any Fed fan "imploring" Fed to skip WTF when Fed was in his prime? Show me the link if you find one. Unbelievable the absurdity of such "need rest, no need to this exho" argument!

  49. You used quotes to big up an olympic gold medal, however the funny thing is your quotes don't mention a singles gold medal.

Nobody on this board respects you as unlike N-S-K you don't have the intelligence to be a good troll.

    why only tennis?
why not apply the same argument to all team events? Heh, if Fed needed Stanislas to win, then Usain also needed 3 other guys to run with him, no? The last time I checked, that was how team sprint relay was done, correct? And your Gospel of Truth spelling Jon, did he ever call Usain's gold medal in team sprint meaningless? Or even hinted that those were less meaningful than solo's?
