Loss vs ucf...
They will never ever beat drake i think
Well, the Canes dropped the doubles point against Florida Atlantic but still managed to win yesterday. Today they actually won the doubles point but lost four of five three-setters to fall to Central Florida again. Looks like it's gonna be a tough season as I predicted. They play Drake on Friday.
yeah but you hoped for a win vs UCF and a win vs Drake and a 3-0 start, it now looks like 1-2 ...
Last time I checked, they hadn't played Drake yet.
they will lose..no doubts... (okay i ve to say sorry, if they win.. )
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Can they please hire another coach already? Like, pretty please???
After a shaky Florida Atlantic win, the Canes couldn't get revenge for their first ever loss to Central Florida and again lost to them. They even won the doubles point but lost four of five three-set matches. Really thought they could handle UCF at home but I guess not. Drake is going to be tough but it sure would be nice to get past them and have the opportunity to play Baylor. The Canes surprise new recruit from Switzerland didn't really impress anyone during the last weekend, losing at the No. 6 singles position in straight sets. Got to get things turned around by beating Drake.
Close doubles right now vs drake
Miami much improved today. If they hold on they maybe can win it.
Really thought they would beat Central Florida. Was hoping they could beat Drake. Now I'm worried about tomorrow's match vs. Tulane. Starting the season at 1-3 would be a disaster with the ACC season not even started yet.
Looks like a disaster right now. Tulane rolling on all courts.
Canes hanging around even though the scoreboard had Drake winning 4-1 by taking #6 singles 6-2 6-5
Drake is Not playing Miami today
Disastrous weekend for Miami. Lost 2-4 to #40 Drake and 1-4 to #61 Tulane. Not sure what to expect of the season right now.
Hope is the answer. They need some acc wins and the match vs Gwu.
Drake and Tulane are schools that I consider peers of Miami, academics and cost (roughly) wise. Throw in Duke, Vandy, San Diego, Baylor, TCU Northwestern to that mix. How can Miami not be a force or at least part of the conversation is so puzzling.
That was a fairly solid beatdown that Tulane put on Miami. Quite disappointing from the Canes
I don't see anything puzzling about this at all. If the coach put half as much time into recruiting as Kirijax did in this blog, they might be better. It's actually embarrassing to see some of the losses they have. He might be the nicest guy in the world, but recruiting is the life-blood of a program and he is just not good at it. I really like Miami and wish their program would be great again. But, until you fire the coach, there are unfortunately no bonus points for just being a nice guy or a former pro player.
Alex Fahnehjelm is a Nice guy i think but i know his results Since he was 14 or so. He is never a starting playerfor a top-conference. At a little college like North Florida or Florida gulf Coast he could help. He never played a pro itf match and mostly never played Juniors outside of scandinavia. But he won three Junior doubles title. He mostly played with Simon freund (Lsu)
UNF is better than Miami in men's tennis this year. Gulf Coast should lose against UM, but it probably won't be an easy match.
You know Miami should consider hiring Scott Kidd of Troy. He kinda goes hand in hand with the way things were done with the old school "Da U" football stuff.
Interesting. But at this point I'm really wondering if Miami is even thinking about changing coaches. Shalala is retiring after this year and they probably won't do anything until the new president is hired and settled in.
Coach Finn puts in the work.
Miami ladies get a nice 4-1 win over No. 6 Alabama in the first round of the ITA Indoors today. They face No. 3 North Carolina tomorrow. Should be interesting.
Miami amazingly won the doubles vs FGCU.
Florida Gulf Coast wins 4-1, was headed for 4-3 or 5-2.
Convincing win for gulf Coast!!!
Disastrous day for both teams today. I think the men's team has hit rock bottom after losing to FGCU at home. There's just no excuse for that. Playing Liberty now but I'm not even sure if they can even win that one anymore. Season is over anyways. The ladies also got blown off the courts today by North Carolina. Proving they are still a long ways away from the top.
Ladies not that Bad. Play was much closer as the end result
Wasn't this Miami team supposed to be slightly better than last year? Lomacki has been disappointing once the season has started.
Miami look not better as Boston. In this Form they will get pounded match in and match out in acc
Canes took the doubles 2-1, but looks like 5 of 6 courts are heading for a third set. Against Liberty. Unbelievable.
Miami changed the lineup for this?
#2 Singles also 3rd set. I think Miami wins this but still close. ..
Miami lead 2-0 but lost a Set in every other Single
Miami on course to win 4-2 or 4-3
Looks like the Canes will beat Liberty but barely. Horrible, horrible day for this team. Scrap my pre-season predictions. This team will go 6-17, maybe 7-16 this year.
I was on site for the women's match with UNC. Miami had the doubles point in hand with a 5 2 lead in games only to falter and allow UNC to tie it at 5 5. Then Miami was up 6 5 with match point only to lose that, sending it to a tie breaker.
In the tie breaker they had leads of 5 3 and 6 4 but nervous play by Miami combined with more aggressive play by UNC and UNC wins 8 6 in the tb.
From my pov the coach seemed to be talking non stop to her players. Closing out a match is tough, she made it tougher.
Miami competed well in singles but, if UNC is healthy, their line up is very solid from top to bottom and there was no way Miami was going to take 4 out of 6 matches.
Miami and pepperdine played dubs to 8???
Miami leads 1-0
Miami could and should win today
Miami is a disaster.
Miami led whole match. ..Only to lose again. ..
Men's tennis is a disaster. Something has got to change.
Miami's putrid season continues. Loses to also-unranked Georgia Tech 2-4 at home. Even their two gimme wins double-header against Bethane Cookman was rained out so they may have one more win this season (Boston College). Headed for a 5-17 season. Just awful.
The women continue win while their ranking continues to go down. lol College tennis is great.
winning alone does not hold u high in the rankings..
Hmm..feel sorry for u about the Miami Mens Tennis team....
The 4-6 men's tennis team will be trying to add a couple wins to their total for the season tomorrow as they will play a double-header on Tuesday, March 10th. I presume this is supposed to make up for the rained-out Bethune-Cookman double-header on February 28. They will play Valparaiso at 11:30 a.m. and Quinnipiac at 6 p.m. at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
This is the first meeting against both Quinnipac (11-2) and Valparaiso (3-4). The Crusaders enter the match-up with an 11-2 record.
