I suppose as he'd be 34 next season retirement is fair enough, in my opinion he carried the can for a dying breed, the serve and volleyer. One of the best.

But who will carry on Serve and Volleying in the singles game when Michael Llodra and contemporaries like Stepanek and Karlovic are gone? Stakhovsky...?

He must just be tired of the tour lifestyle, since he's a good enough doubles player that he could stick around in the top 20 of doubles for quite some time if he dedicated all of his time to it.

What a fun player and refreshing game. When I first got into tennis I randomly came across many Llodra matches and found myself thoroughly entertained. His US Open upset of Berdych was particularly enjoyable.

I will be certain to watch him as often as I can in 2014. Glad we have a whole year

When you see this year his results have been poor, now the only surface he plays well on is indoor hardcourt, anywhere else he's became very average. Probably a good decision.

I wish he beat Dimitrov yesterday :(
