Ex-Disney exec. Etienne de Villiers on where he'd like to take men's tennis...

Not really much substance to what he's saying in this piece - but what the hell...

"If you're going to spend a day at a tournament, you want to have a great day out. You don't just want to see tennis, you want a great retail experience, listen to music etc."

Actually, just tennis would be quite fine for me, thanks.

    What a fruitcake. Marilyn Monroe???

I agree with you. Tennis is just fine, thank you very much. Maybe add the stands so we can purchase water or a soda. That's all we need.

As long as players are being paid huge sums of money and tournaments need sponsors, tournaments also need consumers to buy the sponsors ' goods. Yes, I can see entertainment between matches on centre court coming soon. The only place for unadulterated tennis will be at an amatuer tournamnt in your home town.
