Who is going to win? I think it's pretty obvious that Raonic will win comfortably, anyone disagree? Blake used to rely on his speed to return everything, but now he's old so he can't return anything. Break-through year for Raonic.

Don't think Raonic's win is a foregone conclusion just yet, a consistent blake is dangerous enough to overpower opponents on the baseline and he might exploit Raonic's movements. however I still peg him the winner todays match. He's already up a break 2-1 in the first set

Raonic making Blake look like an amateur right now. Very impressive all round game from the Canadian protege.

If Blake continues to play at this level, he may aswell not show up for the rest of the year.

How many second serve aces has Milos hit this tournament? I think I've seen three so far.

If he loses this by an embarrassing scoreline just might get the ball rolling on him calling it a day.

144MPH! Amazing. I have never seen anyone creating so much pace effortlessly...

Blake really needs to think twice about returning serve from the baseline against someone who's hitting in the 140s either direction.

But yeah this match is over. Raonic is on another level at this point.

    Raonic won the 1st, 6-2.

He did not lose a point in his 4 service games

can't help but think of Raonic as what Blake should have been.

    Big hitting, and aggressive.

I want Raonic to win. But it would probably be a three set match. I would like to see lots of aces from Raonic.

Wow..lately I've realized there are some really strange opinions on this board. James Blake lacks in many areas, but one thing you cannot fault him for is a lack of aggressiveness..

All you guys saying that you want to see this go to a third set, don't you realise the sooner Raonic finishes off Blake, the sooner we'll see the epic Klahn - Monfils match!!:D:D

Yes, the NCAA and TTW star. I saw him practice with Blake at the USO last year, he looked good. Also he got creamed in the genitals by Querrey in the USO main draw match and won the set in retaliation. They were just doing their usual national team bonding thing I guess.

I think Blake without a coach is actually a good idea...he can figure himself out more! Maybe blame himself and get his form back like in 2005-06(wishful thinking)! From Yesterday match and today.... Blake has shown a much better performance in a long time!

True but Raonic can hit even harder than Blake (especialy at this point in Blake's career) especialy when you factor in the serve too. So Blake might be made to look less agressive than normal vs an even bigger hitter.

People confuse "tall" and "young" with "aggressive".

I've noticed lately there's a fairly severe lack of critical thinking on the boards. But perhaps that's my fault for looking for it in a particular place.
(And in any event, it's a slightly different rant.)

i think you mean roddick. raonic is playing like how roddick did when he first came on tour. only his backhand and volleys are better, forehand worse, and he is more inconsistent.

blake hits too big and aggressive for his own good. just like gulbis. everyone knows this

  47. NadalAgassi

    NadalAgassi Guest

LOL no Raonic does actually play very agressively as people say he does. Just look at his winner stats vs his opponents in Australia (or watch him play). He doesnt have those just by being tall and young.

Please read carefully. Follow the antecedents.

I wasn't talking about Raonic. I was talking to the people who were saying "Too bad JBlake isn't aggressive like Raonic".

  49. NadalAgassi

    NadalAgassi Guest

And like I already said Raonic hitting even harder than Blake (especialy past his prime as he now clearly is, especialy factoring in the serve to the equation too) probably made Blake look less agressive to some. He wasnt allowed to play as agressively as normal against all of Raonic's power and depth, especialy a step slower than before and not able to get behind all those huge shots on balance to hit his own as well.
