Has anybody bought/tried the Mizuno racquets? The price is on the higher side though. Yen to USD was $402.35 for the racquet i wanted. . . . The caliber series look great but i'm not sure about the quality on them.

Not sure if this will help, but Mizuno apparently makes pretty damn good golf clubs that hit like "buttah". Hopefully it's the same for tennis rackets :)

Have you tried the new line of racquets? And also, is there a reason for the high price?

That price is normal in Japan. Racquets typically cost around 30,000 yen. You might be able to find some in the range of 24,000 yen, but that is still around $300. Tennis racquets in Japan cost more than the US. A Head Youtek IG Prestige Pro I costs around $400 (31,000 Yen).

I wish Mizuno would go back in tennis in the US. I love their shoes, they're so high quality. Come on Mizuno!

Tell you what, Shuzo Matsuoka in that video hasn't aged a day! He still looks the same as he did when he was on the tour. In great shape.

The MP series has been one of the all time greats. If I hadn't been given my gunmetal Cleveland TA1s, I would have bought the Mizuno MPs.

Speaking of Mizuno rackets, does anyone know what racket Shuzo Matsuoka used?

He's a cool dude -- doing a ton of announcing work, and not just sports. One of my fav's is his weekly show on FCI where he travels Japan to find unique food sources and preparation. The guy just has a terrific personalty. His father is the man behind Toho, the big film studio, so he fits into the well-connected, golden spoon crowd yet comes across as being so down to earth.

Off topic, but they make really good badminton racquets too. For instance, their Tetra Cross 700 badminton racquet has (to date) an almost PS 85--like following.:) Good quality. Hopefully their tennis racquets too.
