I tuned out, and went to bed after Monfis was down 0-2 in the 3rd set, and was barely moving. It was hard to watch. I thought he was done.

Pleasantly surprised to see he survived this match.

sure he double faulted on match points, some people either didn't see the whole game or forget that he came back from virtual death to win the match.

he was gone in the 3rd set. so many haters in here criticizing pro players while sitting in a chair

i wouldn't want to ruin any excitement offered by monfils' comeback so far, but i think you should be warned about the next round (especially the ones who are too young to remember... or the ones who prefered to forget this terrible night at the 2009 AO)...... it's monfils vs simon again !!!

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

who else does remember that match ?...

How could anyone forget this match?

It's still used in some families to punish children who are disobedient. ;)

I've heard replays of this match are big hits for imsomniacs.

I propose an endless loop of it be played in Congress prior to the approach of our next financial cliff!

I think more like faking injury and acting like an idiot, tanking a set and getting a bit of luck for the win.

I love Monfils. He finds a way to be dramatic without being rude, and even smiling through it. As we just saw, he creates drama (in the good sense of the word) out of nothing! Sure he lacks some aspect of the mental game that the top players have, but he's so fun and fascinating to watch.

Hope he somehow fumbles & stumbles his way into the final!

As many others have said, he's fun, exciting, occasionally brilliant, but never reliable. We can't rely on him to play a smart, quality match. He has stretches, but it never lasts.

The knee issues may have scared him quite a bit.......seems to be saying all the right things and talking about winning a major! He's never had that attitude before - recent interviews in L'Equipe and Tennis Magazine (French one) have a different tone from him.

Will be interesting to see what he does v Gilou tonight........we should be in a for a LOOOOOOng night with these two and Gilou not playing that well......
