Nieminen is playing his best tennis when it matters and Raonic serve that has been pretty solid since the start of the 2nd set has looked all kinds of nervy in the last game and tie break.

Match points for Nieminen and he takes it in the tie break, good match and pretty great tennis to watch from both players. Time for Nadal?

Meh, Milos really had some brainfarts on big points while Nieminen was solid as usual, still not a bad showing from Milos considering everything.

Good job by the old guy. I love it when these veterans beat the young guys. Nieminem is fun to watch, plays a modern style, unlike Stepanek

Yup...Raonic was very nervous...and Neiminen had the crowd behind him...more animated I think..

@milosraonic Sorry, poor mental performance at the most critical of moments, including drop in 1st serve.

@milosraonic There's some progress, but after 2 years in series 1000 and GS this is not enough. Change coaches, they reached their limit.

@milosraonic The key for you too is control and variety, not power. There might be some idiots telling you otherwise, don't listen.

Did you watch the match? He threw in some clever drop shots and some very nice volleys at the net with great hands, he wasnt all power, i thought he mixed it up quite a bit more than usual and just got beat by nerves at the end and Nieminen took advantage of it.

I thought Raonic played well until the tie break and it all fell apart... even his serve completely failed.

The crowd applauding Matosevic winning a point against Nadal haha come on, give the guy a break. Its only the 2nd game xD

Nadal already up 2 breaks 3-0 and has only conceeded 2 points so far, this could be over very VERY quickly.

That still doesn't make him the fave though. He needs to be able to play a lot on clay to claim that tag.

Certainly I did. That's my final conclusion. Still not enough. Also, control means control of 1st serve at the most critical of moments.

Matosevic celebrates getting a game against Nadal like he's won the match, as much as i realise that its probably genuine relief he's got a game, you shouldnt really show that to your oppenent. Obviously the history and Nadal's reputation on clay is scary but at least go into the match beliveing in yourself, this guy looks like he was convinced of defeat even before he stepped on the court.

Nadal wraps it up 6-1 6-2, despite being only one point away from going down a double break in the 2nd. Despite that minor blip Rafa looked very solid, as expected.

Matosevic was an overwhleming favourite but as we all know Nadal is at his best when he's the underdog and all the odds are against him hence the big upset.

Agut losing to Mayer might be the most embarrassing loss we've seen all year.

Commentator: "I think Djokovic is an emotional guy, he likes to be the centre of attention".

i guess they're not over the ankle drama... nice to see professionals are not above the pettiness displayed daily in TTW...

Youzhny taking it to the world no. 1. Up two breaks in the first 3-0...

Does Djokovic have a problem with old-school players or is has the loss to Haas hurt his confidence?

Novak didn't seem 100% to me since his match against Dimitrov at Indian Wells.

Well, his head to head vs Youzhny is 4-3 with lots of close matches. And after struggling with his ankle a week ago,and playing against Youzhny,it certainly makes things difficult.

Djokovic is anything but afraid. Why would he be afraid of someone he once beat 9 times in a row?

    Which Nole fans?

The only one who is claiming that Novak is beating Rafa at MC this week (or that Nadal isn't winning MC period) is Clarky and I sincerely doubt even she really believes that (she's just into that jinxing & anti-jinxing nonsense that has become so prevalient on TW these days).

I think you are confusing "Nole fans" with the one they call Clarky.

Novak looks a yard or two short, since IW really.

Actually, I want Djokovic to beat Youzhny, so I can see Nadal trample him in the final. 20-14 says it all- Nadal dominated Djokovic as Sampras dominated Agassi. :p
