Cool, why is Donald Young still playing 16's and not 18's?
I met Darren the other day in Lexington. We were in the same hotel. I was there stringing the tournament. He was just filing this story. We had a great conversation regarding Donald's game. There is no question he's got game, but not at the pro level yet. You see, Donald is still a boy. Though he took the second set, it was because Dusan lost focus trying to be cute out there. He schooled Donald in a big way. Ran him all over the court, drop shots, lob volleys, junk slice shots etc. This match was no where close to what the score indicates. Donald got so ticked, he fired a ball towards the side lines just missing the umpire by inches. The little boy attitude is very much present in him. Hopefully he will outgrow it. He doesn't have the power to hang with the big boys yet, but all you have to do is look at him. He's young, and he will grow. As long as he doesn't burn out, he could be really something. Look to him to get a wild card at the US Open...that's the buzz around the circuit. He'll get waxed, but it's a good story.
The pressure on this kid to perform must be enormous. I wish him well.
