Got a call from my cousin in the UK the other day. She is 61 has has just been diagnosed with this disease.

Already in her arm the muscles are showing signs of failure.

My dad was pretty devastated when she rang to tell us the news.

Any ideas about the best ways to reduce this nerve disease that I think leads to muscle failure?

I am not a Neurologist but this sounds like a description of symptoms/signs rather than a specific diagnosis.

The motor neuron diseases are a group of conditions of which ALS, or "Lou Gehrig Disease," is perhaps most commonly seen. These diseases tend not to be responsive to treatments, though I've seen some patients live 10 years or more sometimes after diagnosis.
