Is this for real? He's going to drop a ton of points by doing that, and he has a good chance at doing well during that time. What a bizarre decision if this is true.

i didn't know whether to laugh or roll my eyes. so, he's gonna skip the clay to focus on wimbledon, cos lendl did it . . . even though that strategy never really paid off for ivan. um . . . ok.

if murray thought the pressure at wimbledon was massive before this year, i can't wait to see it in 2012.

I have to admit, for a moment there I was pulled in. Lendl seems eccentric enough to do that.

But yeah, then I remembered what day it was

Ok it's an April Fools joke, then? It's still March 31st where I am in the states so no wonder I didn't get it. Lol. Thank goodness because I was about to question Murray's sanity for a second there.

    Best part of the article:

Lendl, who reached the Wimbledon singles final in 1986 and 1987, losing to Boris Becker and Pat Cash respectively, is well-known for his contempt for European clay.

"Look at the true greats of the game – Krajicek, Kodes, Savitt and McKinley," the eight-time slam winner told the assembled media. "They were all fine Wimbledon champions whose names need no introduction.

"Compare them with the imposters who won the French: pushers like B. Borg, R. Laver and R. Federer – I mean, who are these guys? Clay is for lightweights playing powderpuff Europiffery. And it turns your socks pink."

Pushers like Borg, Laver, and Federer -- I almost spit my drink out reading that LOL!!

Yeah it's almost a shame they added the "wink" at the end there, I'd love to have seen tennis pundits and fans get sucked in by this

Lendl did this in '90 I think. So I fully believed for a minute.

He could start early by skipping tomorrow's final. After all, as Radwanska proved today, CC @ Miami IS clay-slow.

Love the quote from Neil Harman, for extra effect. Classic. This is much better than last year when he tweeted that Ross Hutchins was his new coach.

Wonder which news outlets will pick this up and play like it's legit?

April fool's or not, it's so ridiculously obvious how Lendl wants to win Wimbeldon through Murray.
if he wins, then it's "because of Lendl guidance",
if not, it was Murray's old choking habits that Lendl couldn't fix..

Sadly, I hear Nadal has retired completely, else he could have skipped the clay season, too.

    :D

Hopefully the 100mph serve speed limit is implemented for when he returns to win Wimbledon!
