My old thread was too broad. So I narrowed it down to two bands. Radiohead and Muse are two of the biggest rock bands in the world. Which of these two bands do you think are better? Many people say Muse is a ripoff of Radiohead. What do you guys think? I personally like both bands but I think Radiohead is better.

I had a really good conversation with Lemmy in Crazy Mama's one night in the 80's.
He initially asked about the custom T-shirt I was wearing of the album cover to "Out of Their Skulls" by the Pirates. I made absolutely no reference to his band, music, fame, or that I even knew who he was. We talked about the good old daze (the Sixties). That's why he talked with me for such a long time, I am certain.

I was actually being generous, they are both poor overrall!

(Apart from about half of Radioheads Bends album, the first 5 tracks on OK Computer, and the first 3 on Kid A)

I wouldnt say they are poor at all. Radiohead especially. They are some of the most critically acclaimed artists of all time. OK computer is pure brilliance. Of course, I respect your opinion. Music taste is entirely subjective.

    Fair point:)

I agree entirely that music taste is entirely subjective!

A lot of people think Radiohead are the Dogs Bollocks whereas I tend to think they are just BLX!

    And Muse are worse:(

Muse is definitely one of my favorite bands. I really liked Radiohead's first 3 albums, then they got too "whiny" for me. Although the song 15 step is groovin.

Muse of course. ;-) Knights of Cydonia is the greatest rock track of all time.

Radioheads first album is rubbish surely, bar Creep!

The Bends is in my opinion their best album and easily their most consistent.

OK Computer starts superbly for the first 5 tracks then really goes off after that, bar the odd track!

Kid A starts really well for first 3 tracks, then just gets dull!

The other Radiohead albums are not as good as the above!

And I really do think Muse are average!

If you're tired of Radiohead, Muse is a refreshing alternative.

    No, they definitely aren't!

Fountains of Wayne would be a refreshing alternative:)

I voted neither, but if I had to choose, I'd choose Radiohead. Radiohead have some decent tracks and I just can't get along with Muse.

I see what you mean. A lot of radiohead songs are really quite slow. It sounds like Thom is moaning.

    My favorite radiohead songs are:
    1. Jigsaw falling into place
    2. Karma Police
    3. No Suprises
    4. Creep
    5. Planet Telex
    6. House of Cards
    7. Pyramid Song

I bet you I left some out.:)

I went with Muse. New album is wonderful. Ambitious, but not an overreach imo.

still when it comes to British music, it's Oasis above all else! :)

This is up for debate. Definately Maybe and Morning Glory can stand next to any rock album in the past 20 year IMO. Supersonic, Some Might Say, Live Forever are much better than anything Muse has produced. This is just my opinion however. I admit I am bias towards Oasis like you are towards Muse.

Out of all the songs you could have picked you go with Assassin? At least pick one of their good tunes like New Born, Citizen Erased, Space Dememtia, Megalomania, Butterflies and Hurricanes..just about anything off of Origin of Symmetry or Absolution.

Assassin? That entire album only had 3-4 tolerable songs.

Definitely Maybe craps on anything Muse have ever done, now go hang your head in shame.
