Especially when he said Sharapova used "power and finesse.

IMO, she's a watered down version of Davenport with a bit more foot speed.

You're so childish. How old are you ... single digit? Are you, like, sure it wasn't Sharapova who said it first?

So, I take it monkeys talk in your neck of the woods? Interesting.

I don't think the Williams sisters are far above the rest of the field any more. Now there are several with average serves of 115 mph and they can run and volley and mix things up. So as soon as all the women are healthy it should become quite interesting with the Belgians, the Williams, and the Russians and Sprem all in there fighting to win.

I just watched the Wimby final again and it struck me how Sharapova and Williams both just stood at the baseline hitting as hard as they could every shot. There didn't seem to be much thinking going on. This is why I find the men's game so much more interesting. The men hit hard but hitting hard isn't everything.

Well, having survived Hingis, Davenport, and Henin, I'm sure the Williamses can manage whatever the russians throw at them.

Bigserving hit the nail on the head. You are criticizing their STYLE of play and it is the predominant style on both tours. And I would bet the same people criticizing their racquets are the same people who tell everybody who asks a racquet question to just practice more. If "the racquet doesn't matter," then the racquet NEVER matters, and you shouldn't trouble yourself on what racquet they use. That being said, I don't particularly enjoy watching their sloppy matches, either, but we've got to give credit where it is due, even to Richard Williams who may be a buffoon, but he is a rich buffoon who was instrumental in bringing along two incredible athletes.

I don't think things are the as they were back when the Williamses were young and new. Hingis never had a good serve, and Davenport never had the movement of some of the new players today.

Isn't it always a matter of young vs. old and when a new tennis star is coming up in the ranks and finally beats the old #1 they look like the greatest thing since sliced bread? Then in two or three years that player starts to slow down and some other new young players arrive and take over. This seems like a cycle to me, and in women's tennis it looks like the cycle of change over is getting shorter and shorter.

This type of statement shows just how ignorant and delusional this poster really is. I seem to remember that Hingis was winning her fair share of matches against both the W sisters up until her injury. As for Davenport, she's never really been much of a force except for a short period of time. Henin of course is also winning her fair share against them. So the poster is whacked, what else is new?

bertchel u fool, u r so predictable, now go back to kingergarten and work on some drawings, there u go, that's a good boy

<Gasp>, OMG. I must say your harsh words have esposed and embarrassed me to the the point where I don't think I'll ever recover. Poor me.

If you believe so then it must be true.

Right, Lindsay is a pushover. Talk about delusional and ignorant.

As evidenced by her 1-7 record against Venus.

Sigh, what a waste of time. No more.

Very clever Bertchels....NOT! My harsh words "esposed" you? LOL. If you think that was harsh, you're even more of a weakling than you let on. But I agree, "poor you" .

The fact that you deny Hingis winning against the W sisters shows just how biased and delusional you really are. Check the record books dude and then shut your yap.

Who said Lindsay is a pushover? I sure didn't. Did you ever learn how to read??? I could care less what her record was against Venus, my statement stands as is once again verified through the record books.

You're right, you are a waste of time. No more??? Yay!!! See ya chump.
