My "Starter Collection"

I got bitten by the collecting bug in March, but I have tried to maintain some discipline with the idea that it's less painful to gain knowledge with modest purchases than to go out and start dropping $200-$300 on pieces. The majority of these racquets were acquired at Goodwill with one (the T4000) on the Bay and one (the never-strung Pro Kennex Dominator) given to me. The average cost of acquisition is about $6.

I bought the racquets for a number of reasons: I like the "industrial" look of the T-Series, plus I actually love hitting them. The TADs are just beautiful racquets, especially the Imperial. The 200g I really wanted to hit. The Kramer was so clean I couldn't let it go. The Prince because the cool kids had them in school, and I was never a cool kid :-?

I really have tried to acquire the best condition sticks that I could. The 200g, an 1986 Johnny Mac Signature model, has almost perfect paint and an immaculate Fairway Grip (when I dragged that out of the Goodwill bin with an old Black Max headcover, it made my week). The T3 and the T5 might never have been hit, as is the case with the Imperial and the Kramer.

I'm not sure where it will go from here, but it's been a lot of fun acquiring these, and I doubt I will stop anytime soon. It takes a little effort, but building a decent selection of vintage sticks on a shoestring is very doable.
