I recommend ART (active release technique) physical therapy. It's basically some joint manipulation with super deep massage to break up scar tissue. I had a bad ankle injury from basketball (landed on someone's foot and rolled my ankle all the way until the outer ankle bone bounced off the court) I let it heal very slowly until it just seamed to stagnate or heal too slowly for me. Within a few sessions, it felt almost 100% and I was able to be pain free. The sessions can be somewhat intense but worked wonders for me. I went back to the same guy when I had a lower back injury also (from squats). Same result.
