My synthetic gut strings are moving quite a bit and making a scratch noise.

Does this mean I need a new stringing done? I'm ending up fixing them in between points. I've realize as I move them, they are making a scratching noise; as though I were scratching a rigid piece of plastic.

Absolutely normal. They have probably lost some tension since your racquet was strung - play with em until they break unless you are feeling pain.

Adding string savers works great because they kill three birds with one stone:
    Reduces string movement
Slightly increases stringbed firmness (can help compensate for tension loss)
    Prolongs string life considerably

If you want strings that dont move and don't make a scratching noise try a poly in the crosses.
