My thoughts about Djokovic, Federer and 2022 Laver cup

I cant understand why Djokovic plays Laver Cup this year. Hes acting so respectfull to Federer, thats good. But cmon, this must be so hard for him. Even at presentation hes behind Rafa and Roger. I understand its last Roger's tournament, but its for sure Novak isnt third wheel... I kind of maybe could understand being behind Nadal if you only look at GS titles, but Federer being ahead Novak?Seriously?I cant even figure which one disrespecting himself more. Novak playing Laver cup or Federer doing so big deal about himself. And that chair raise thing???Federer looks like 12 year child looking for attention badly.
In his situation i would play last normal ATP tournament for example Basel and just finish tournament, give as many signatures for fans as i could, give speech and thats it. Anyways Roger finishing as third wheel so should respect others, he isnt bigger than tennis sport itself.

It is seriously pathetic that there are people who consider this any kind of issue.

Novak has looked nothing but happy sharing that moment with his peers the whole time he has been there. Last night when they came out for the match and everyone was applauding he was the one guy on the team TAKING PICTURES OF IT ON HIS PHONE. He was literally the most understanding and into the moment.

It is nice he can appreciate the enormity of the occasion even if certain tribalistic fools are still completely unable to get over themselves.

Cmon its much less of a drama as most people here make it seem. Djoko Nadal and Fedr is probably the best trio in sports I can remember. It was mainly the families in the stadions which had some littlle fights back then (Djokovics father...).
All 3 of these guys achieved so much... I really believe they share love between each other. The GS race is there, they are proessional competitors but yeah.... no reason to get pissed because someone is called GOAT even though from stats he isn't ...

But he *IS* the third wheel. He showed up after Roger and Rafa were already in the middle of their epic rivalry. Him not attending this LC would reflect badly on him as he was already signed up for the LC this year. Are you saying that he should have withdrawn after Roger announced he would retire at the LC???

It's this kind of mindset that gives Novak a bad name as their fans project their own bitterness onto Novak.

If you can't accept that two people could have become better friends than you with them because they shared a rivalry earlier, you're the manchild, not Federer. Also, this tournament has been about Federer's retirement, not who has the most slams, so it's natural that Federer and whomever he considers his best rival will share the limelight. Tbh Djokovic has hurt himself in the fans eyes over the years with some things.

I mean, ripping your shirt off after a match is either motivating for people, or they think hes a clown. Not to mention the tons of other things like shouting at ballkids , and some of his interviews especially when he was younger.

Fedal generally never acted like this, although they are far from perfect. I understand why some people will think either of them arent their cup of tea either.

I, personally, like Djokovic, the person. I think hes the most respectful in defeat. We have seen Fedal be major stroppy at the net after losing to him, but hes usually very congratulating to whoever beats him. Its a trait i like.

I dont really see all this as a PR thing from Djokovic either. In time, everyone mellows, and i believe the early frostiness between the great rivals , has all but gone.
