I use semi-western grip and 2hbh, and my thumb (the muscle part of the thumd) has a lot of pain after playing. It goes away after couple of days...
Is anyone else having this pain?

I'm not sure what you mean by the muscle part of your thumb, but recently I have had the same problem. It hurts near the joint for me. I find that if I move it around and kind of stretch it out a little the pain goes away pretty quickly.

Ya, the joint and the palm area of the thumb.
So any idea why it happens?

probably not holding the racquet correctly. search around for proper ways to hold the grip for both FH & BH.

strengthen thumb by competing in thumb wrestling tournaments.

Its really tough to get past the qualies in these tournaments. I just settle for some stretching. :D

I am thinking of the big grip size... I am using 3/8, and I'm thinking of changing it to 1/4.
