Why would he tank? Wouldn't he want Wawrinka to go through to give the other group a tougher time instead of Berdych?

    Bakery coming for Nadal.

I just want Berdych to serve Nadal a bagel and then to lose the 3rd set, showing that he is Nadal's pigeon and Stan can get through to the semis as well. :)

Rafa is going to tank the match now. He secured top seed and wants Berdych to move on in the off chance he makes the final.

Not watching, but sounds like Nadal is tanking. This is literally the only way Berdych has a chance, and I still expect him to choke it away.

I've never seen Nadal play so poorly in that second set.

Giving away the match to the B-man.
Payback for Wawrinka's "uncle Tony coaching" comments.

Berdych has just stepped up his game. Has had some great shot DTL at important points.

If nadal was tanking, do you really think he would make it so obvious? Come on give the bird some credit.

Could he just be f*cking with Berdych? Like he'll come back from 0-5 0-40 down to take the set and the match?

Certainly easier ways to tank a set, lol.

He accomplished his goal and is suffering a major let-down right now, and Berdych is taking full advantage.

    Rafa is a genious.

    A. Wins the first set, ensuring he finishes top of his group and avoids Djokovic in the semis'.

    B. Tanks against his Pigeon Berdych, ensuring Wawrinka goes out (who is also more dangerous of late), getting revenge for his Uncle Toni comments earlier.

I'm not watching it, but it does sound like he might be tanking the rest of the match....Although I hope he doesn't.

    a) He only needed 1 set to secure 1st place in the group
    b) Berdych would probably be tougher for the winner if the other group than Wawrinka
    c) Wawrinka's comments likely don't sit well with Nadal, so it's possible he may gift the win to Berdych because of that.

Highly unlikely. Berdych is playing very good right now. He'll need to mess up big time to lose from 5-0 up.

Neither of them is that tough indoor. Poor Rafa, his finger must be hurting or his mind is simply not in the match. Understandable since he's already qualified (either that or it is payback to Wawa for his nasty comments about him, he should have kept quiet lol )

    Seriously doubt it.

Even if Nadal is not tanking, given that he's already qualified as #1 in the group, there's hardly any motivation for him to win this match, while Berdych has all the motivation in the world to win.

I agree it doesn't matter since neither of them is beating Rafa or Djoker anyway.

BBFs Nadal and Berdych probably planned this last night.

"You let me win the first set... I'll let you win the last 2."

That's why Rafa can never be the GOAT. He never dominates the tour being a No.1. Getting a breadstick from your pigeon is pathetic.

I doubt Nadal is tanking. 200 points and quite a lot of money is worth few minutes of extra effort. This is not 1st round at ATP250.

Oops....I guess Nadal is not used to having me root for him. He freaked out in the second set thinking why the heck is BreakPoint rooting for me?????!!!! He was so confused that he promptly got killed by Berdych 6-1 in the 2nd set.

If he does, that would show he's a fair competitor. Let's be honest, he doesn't have much to win. Sure, 200 pts and some money, but if that's enough motivation to go all out?

    You don't say Clueless??

I agree with you though, I mean he ensured the top spot in his group and avoids Djokovic in the semis by winning a set in this match. Now he should definately still give 100% and play a guy who actually still got something to win in this match, a spot in the SF.

Believe it or not, there ARE pro players who're tanking matches.
