LOL. The O2 Arena is in the wrong part of London to find many Chelsea fans :)

At Wimbledon, there would be more Chelsea fans in attendance.

How'd you know that? Any link?

Good to see Rafa through to the semis unbeaten. Just 2 matches away from winning his first WTF :)

He only needed to win 1 set to finish 1st in his group.

That shot during match point from Rafa (slice I think) was clearly out. Everybody knew it, but the line person wouldn't dare step in because the ATP's favorite Nadal is playing. And of course Berdych couldn't just stop and challenge it on match point. What a joke.

Can't wait for that match, I'm going to it.. I wonder how much Novak has left?

  9. Neutrals wouldn't like Chelsea either, they play a very ugly brand of football. Many other issues as well.

But how is playing 3 sets saving more energy than winning the match in 2 sets?

Sure. I think final verdict is: he didn't tank or attempt to tank or anything like that. He just had a letdown in the 2nd set. It happens.
ETA: That pic is hilarious, ha ha , Berd is crushing so hard!!

I find it so strange that Berdych can't win a single match against Rafa. His game fits so well against his... It just shows how much mental is important.

Congratulations to the bull, 2 more matches to go! Baaaamos.

7 years ago, Berdych was considered something of a nightmare matchup for Nadal. Berdych was 3-1 up in their head-to-head, and even the match Nadal had won was a close 3-setter on Bastad clay, when Nadal was in the process of winning 81 matches in a row on clay.

His game works horribly against Nadal's. It all starts with his movements and lack of sharp angles. He prefers to hit close to the middle of the court. Letting Nadal dictate way too often. He's like a 6'5 pusher.

Rafa used to be so much quicker back then

Anyways, 16 wins & counting, after that gesture by Berdych :)

Me too. This Berdych wasn't afraid of anybody and was actually a legitimate threat in big tournaments.

For what reason? What did he have to gain? He just wanted to expend more energy playing a 3rd set and also put more pounding on his damaged knees?

maybe it was a subconscious tank.....he knew he'd done enough and went into a bit of a funk.with 2 or 3 games to go in the second he pulled his finger out again.and he isnt tired.and his knee isnt sore either.sorry about my bad punc. but i couldnt be rsed

Wasn't a tank. He still wanted to win. But I get what you're saying. He knew he had secured first place and the intensity lessened while Berdych started to really fight.

Maybe he is getting old and matching the old man Fed's mental lapses during the game.

If he was playing with anyone, it was with Wawrinka, not Berdych.

That sure was a weird third set.

Lol at the comment from the journalists in that video. They're totally hating on Rafa, haters would love it lol

It's kinda strange. He never even looks like he can win. Even today it seemed that if Rafa bothered, he'd win.

Poor Berd, must be tough to be so good and yet be just completely unable to beat another player.

You are making up so many stories !

Thomas playd well 2 set. Rafa too relaxed.
I saw him train before doubles aswell, very calm and happy guy,

He fired himself up before 3 set, that was obvious! So different from the rest i saw him today.

    interesting quote by Nadal here...

in spanish, @RafaelNadal said: "(Federer & DelPotro) are worse than me in bad positions on the court & better than me in good positions"

Not gonna lie, i interpreted the same way. Except instead of "pusher", i thought of it was "defender"

you're so clueless, it's not even funny.

If you can make great shots from awkward positions you are clearly a great shotmaker. Nadal after Federer is undoubtedly the greatest shotmaker in the sport.

That is what he really said, indeed. Not sure why are some people complaining.
Nadal, unlike some of his fans, understands he is not a shotmaker like Federer, Djokovic and Del Potro.

Right. Nadal knows how to push Djokovic out of matches. Remember how Djokovic almost cried at the trophy ceremony in NY.
