Yep. Some people are just blind when it come to their hate for "certain" players.
... which is well deserved.
him being really eaten by the wolf would be also well deserved !
amazing line, i have to say... is it on the main court ?
on such a court, connors would just have to move the line with his hand instead of doing his little steps !
(damned ! the right clip appears to have been removed from youtube... snif !)
What happened to rafas training where toni would feed him dead balls and still try and make him preserve no matter what
Make him preserve what? Jams and jellies? Lol.
Whoops yeah typo. But yeah maybe jellies tho
Be that as it may, the issue is that Nadal has been back just over a week and already he has lost a final to a nobody and has managed to complain just about everything such as hardcourts, the time between points rule, the clay court in Sao Paulo, etc. etc. Don't you think he should just be quiet and play tennis? What other top four guy complains this much about so many different topics? Federer, Murray and Djokovic do not complain so often about so many things. Enough already. You wonder why some people don't respect him, this is why!
I guess everyone ignored the tweets I posted. Dustin Brown twisted his ankle on the courts. Ramirez Hidalgo twisted his ankle as well. I realize Nadal complains a lot and often times about ridiculous things, however he clearly seems to have a point here.
I wonder how much appearance money was paid to Nadal. Yes, the court is not Roland Garros, but he's playing 250 tourny. And being paid quite handsomely I might add.
Probably her cheap Nike shoes caused it. They need to speed those courts up so we can see some serve and volley at one of the majors.
At least $1 million a pop. He would not get out of bed for less than that per tournament.
Will they actually play with the line in that condition or is that something they can fix? I don't see how they can play with it in that condition...it's like those old carpet videos where big sections of it get bunched up during play.
Man, my local public clay courts are in better shape than that and that's not saying much. Does Tiriac own this tournament too?
Unfortunately the bolded part is not a criticism of the tournament, he's simply mad that the surface doesn't favor his preferred style.
...and there it is again.
It's weird how he mixes legitimate concerns together with whining about conditions not favoring his game.
A lot of Nadal's criticisms seem legit. He's just horribly undiplomatic and it comes across too often as mere whining.
hmmm ... what about complaining about those big hats from Mexico, spicy food?
Yes definitely. 2.5MM for 2 hrs at MSG i cant imagine him playing a week here for less than that. But not sure if he had alternatives i doubt rotterdam but he coulda just sat out.
At least in Chile he was able to sign his first client to his new agency. Christian garin
It doesn't fit their agenda. Facts need not get in the way of the ravenous Nadal hate on this site.
I would agree with this. Along with what polvorin said. His criticisms are legit. He's just not good at separating what's good for the game and what's good for himself. Or he doesn't want to. 1 of the 2.
Just heard that Rafa pulled out of doubles in Sao Paulo.
He's been whining a lot recently about all sorts of things, no?
At least Nadal is complaining this time.
Didnt say a peep when people were breaking wrists and ankles at Monte Carlo last year...
Must be fast clay like Madrid in Sao Paolo
And Nalby is also complaining about the courts and balls. He said that they are dangerous and very hard to control. Any pitchforks and torches being brought out for him?
So long as he isnt kicking linesman chairs I dont care what Nalby does.
Besides, Nalby has an axe to grind given his inane rant after rightfully disqualified.
That said, all trolling aside, no doubt the courts probably are ****e.
Someone on this board posted an article about the disastrous state of the
courts last week in Pro Player Discussion.
Still and I have to say this, where was Nadal's hue and cry when people were complaining about MC and getting injured there last year?
i dont know if it was necesary as zeballos retired from his singles match and probably will not make an atempt to participate in the doubles...
Okay, that's not good at all!
But still, they should play this at the changeovers when Nadal is playing...
Very refreshing take on things from Ralph! Let's see...your body is so bad you have to take eight months off and then decide to dip your toes into "competition" by going the minor league 250 route and you expect everything to be tailor-made to your expectations built on years of experience at top tier venues??? Live with it or retire permanently! Until then, STFU!
Pros complain about the quality of claycourts fairly often (in DC and smaller tourneys especially) and let's not forget Nadal just came back from an injury layoff so he's likely being doubly careful.
Tom, I agree that Nadal is furthering some of his own agenda about entertaining tennis (long rallies), but this is a pretty serious issue. No pro tennis player should "live with" a court with poorly plastered lines.
Ironically if they did that - it would speed up the courts! The AO is sooooo slow.
it is an ATP tour event....it is a not a challenger or futures event (not that those shouldn't be safe either). There are rules and standards.
What about playing on courts with the possibility of getting hit by a stray bullet from a dangerous neighborhood. Didnt uncle toni tell rafa to play the 09 AO (after the verdasco match) as if someone had a gun pointed at him?
I predicted that!
But they're still on the schedule.
They just moved the venue to São Paulo using indoor clay at the Sports complex....not surprised the surface a bit iffy.
They are temporary clay - just laid them down a few weeks ago if that long.
Was he hurt? I was following the scores for awhile, and it was strange to see him go from winning the first in a tiebreak and then not winning another game.
Not surprised to see the usual Nadal bashers out in full swing today.
What Nadal said about the courts is 100% correct. They are in terrible condition and so are the balls. Two players have rolls their ankles and many have already complained, before he even opened his mouth. Nadal shouldn't have to adapt to a court where the conditions are dangerous, the lines are coming off and the balls aren't up to competition standards. Seriously people, before jumping to stupid conclusions get your facts straight.
And why should he STFU as others have said, he has the right to have an opinion and say what he wants. I think the posters on this forum need to stop whinging and complaining about Nadal 24/7.
Agreed. What's funny is they want a pro tennis player like Nadal to STFU about something he knows 100 times more about than they ever will, but never cease to run their mouths about something they haven't a clue about, and have never experienced. They actually expect him to go out and play on unsafe courts and say nothing about it. These people just want to see him severely injured. It would make their day if something horrible were to happen to him while playing on these garbage courts. Transparent as glass these people are.
 this board has sprung back to life only recently with the deluge of Nadal threads. His presence on tour is the life blood of the trolls and they want him to shut up and play?
Touching on logic, meaning it goes WAY above the heads of the afore-mentioned, who plays on the courts? nadal or TWtroll_i_loathe_Rafa_yet_cannot_stop_discussing_him_376587?
it's probably because of hard courts...
Mariecon does exactly this. And he/she is far from being alone.
So it seems.
The event has moved and this is probably the reason the courts are not playing good.
Other players have complained.
Doesn't seem Nadal has done anything wrong here. Come on guys, he's complaining about clay! His favourite surface, and it isn't blue or anything
Welcome to Talk-Rafa warehouse. Love him, hate him, or have no opinion of him, Rafa gets a reaction out of almost EVERY tennis fan. It's nuts.
You think Ralph is right in criticizing the tournament?
In this case, where other players also have, and there's a picture of a line peeling off the court? Yes.
When did this criticism from Nadal come? Was it after he lost or did he also complain after the wins? Or did the courts just magically deteriorate in the final?
those bitter ignorers are the worst of all... each time rafa does something they can't help but not post anything about him.
their insolent silence is a true insult to the mighty rusty peak injured golden bull !
I don't know how intelligent you are, but you don't have to like or hate someone to post about them. Plenty of the anti-Nadal trolls on here do it for sh!ts and giggles because the guy is impossible to ignore and typing his name in a post will stir a reaction.
LOL fail. Do you even check which tournament is being referred to before you made a beeline for the keyboard to post?
i got what you said... just kidding, buddy.
a little michael and we're cool, ok ?
by the way, who are these anti-nadal trolls you're talking about ?...
So what if the lines are peeling off, like in that picture?
It's a ATP 250, not a slam. If you play an ATP 250 you should expect adverse conditions like these - they're not made of money. Hell, if there was oil all over the baseline - who cares, you get on with it and do your job.
This is what real working tennis players have to deal with, but Nadal thinks he can say something and get it changed - just because of his name. Disgusting.
Separate names with a comma.
