Nadal is the only top 5 player not playing right now. That's the only relevant fact.
Nadal is not retired.
ferrer is tough. he has been a staple in the top 5 for years. the next best thing to the top 4. if it wasnt for rafa he would have multiple french opens by now.
people forget easily. they will soon come to remember the fear that is rafa. crouching tiger hidden dragon
Rafa is the only top 5 player to pick his butt 5 times in a minute.
The important thing is the day off in between. (He didn't play 2 5 setters back to back at AO, he had a day to recover). When your opponent is as good as Murray is and has a normal schedule and you need to come out 3 days in a row, of course it's gonna make a difference. At that level, everything matters. I'm sure it mattered for Murray at USO 2008.
I think it's more than 5. Lol.
EXACTLY. he preforms the best when he's at his best playing the best and winning.
Ok, thanks. If Lance can play endlessly for hours and hours and then come back fresh as a daisy, I think he can manage to play a few short sets over a few days time. Didn't he have that 4 hour semi against Andy in Rome in 2011 only come back the very next day showing no signs of ever having played that match, beating Nadal in the final?
rafa beat him like murray that day
I can come up with excuses for every one of Murray's slam final losses - bad scheduling, tough draws, exhaustion, injuries etc.
Does that mean there's an asterisk against every player who beat Murray in a slam final?
The fact is Murray wasn't good or strong enough to cope with it and his rivals were because, for instance, they maybe played better earlier rounds and deserved to be fresher for the final.
Apologies for the name calling btw but the wind stuff really gets on my goat and, if you've been watching Murray's progress over the years which I doubt you have from your comments then you'll know Murray's success is down to world class play on a par with the very best. Not down to the wind.
yes! sweet redemption. davydenko lost in straights i think in the Australian Open. rafa will dismantle him
You're funny - you should get a manager rather than sitting there handling yourself.
Oh yeah, you're right, he's coming back at the US, I mean Australian, I mean, uh.......
The semis against Berdych had horrendous wind conditions. Why is everyone making it as though there was wind in the finals ?
Novak was clearly the better player at the end of the 4th set and Murray was mentally out. At that juncture, Novak didnt have any more gas in him. If he had a better schedule, he definitely would have won. No doubt.
Compensates for the lucky forehands that he had against Fed in USO 2010 and 2011 SF.
When you have a long career, it will all even out. (except for Murray's easy draws)
The luck that saw Murray lose a set to Berdych in the USO semi final because the wind blew his hat off a winning shot on break point.
No he wouldn't, Federer can beat him easily.
sarcasm is for winners
 ...responses in thread.
Using my gif now are we? LOL jokes, this is the dedicated to NSK and to NSK only. 8)
RAFA2005RG has convinced me that Nadal is the Chuck Norris of Tennis. Other players win simply because Nadal allows it.
Nadal has a better record vs Murray on clay, grass and indoor hc. They're even in outdoor hc.
He also has a better record vs Novak on clay and grass.
He also has a better record vs Federer on clay and outdoor hc.
More importantly he leads h2h against all of them at majors.
nadal is better than all three of them. lets face it. the stats are astounding. GOAT
i need this in my life.
What Nadal.....??? the poker player?...golf player?
Wow! Nadal must've been in a real giving mood to allow Djokovic those 3 consecutive Slam wins! How wonderful of Rafa!
first rate guy, that rafa. give give give. unlike selfish federer and ungrateful djokovic.
the GOAT does not go out in the second round of any slam,,,,,,,or the fourth round for that matter,,,,,,,,,
how will nads go when he comes back and cant play to his own pace?
but the first, yes. yes indeed.
poor poor rafa. his ocd ticks will go into overdrive.
Cool. An average of 79,16 posts a day. Hope you can keep it up TW needs someone like you.
I would not overrate the olympics win. yes, the olympics are extremely important for fed and he was certainly at least as motivated as he is in a slam but he had the disadvantage of being tired due to that long DP match. If he was fresh that match would have been a lot closer.
I expect a very hard match today. fed might not be in his prime anymore but he is in very good shape for his age and hitting the ball very well. that will not be easy for murray, especially if fed has a good first serve percentage.
thank you. i'm really trying. i have big shoes to fill. #humblerafa
Let's not forget Nadal leads 3-2 on slam H2H with Fed even without the roland garros matches
