Wha... wha... what happened? Why didn't he just own the inferior doubles players such Bryan/Bryan like he allegedly did to others in Indian Wells? Must have been the Lopez factor, huh... Remember that thread?

Let's watch Nadal's doubles performance through the year, as well as Nestor/Zim.

*sigh* I was hoping as few people as possible would notice this had happened, because I knew it would be blown as far as possible out of proportion.

I hope you put down in here somewhere that

    1) it was to the Bryans he and his partner lost. They're, you know, pretty good.
    2) he wasn't playing with his partner with whom he won at IW and at Doha.

P.S. You do also know the IW singles defending champion is out of singles already this tournament, right? This is tennis, not robotics.

Yeah I had pointed out that it was only one result vs. Nestor/Zim, and they didn't play so well against Nadal and what's his name.

Over time we'll see there isn't a debate to be had here. Being good in singles does not make one a great doubles player, and any singles or doubles court can go one way or the other with players at or near the top on any given day.

Why bother mentioning they lost to the Bryan bros. when Nadal and what's his name beat Nestor/Zim?

Not surprised. I have never even heard of the guy Nadal was playing with. The Bryan brothers were probably out for revenge too.

The Bryan Bros like to get there revenge. They absolutely cleaned Federer and Allegro out last year. Revenge was exacted for the bejing loss.

Nadal's game isn't designed for doubles, he just stands behind the baseline and rallies. You need to be more strategic and attack the net while Nadal plays his singles game in a doubles match.

I haven't seen Nadal's Miami doubles partner play, but I have seen Lopez play and he's actually very good at doubles.

Don't mess the Bryan's. I doubt Federer/Nadal as a double would beat them.

his partner must've been hopeless and also out of form compared to his masters series winning partner.

He wasn't playing with Lopez, who carried Nadal through several matches in Indian Wells.

well with Tomeu Salva as a partner Rafa went to the Barcelona finals. He beat beat Nestor and Knowles and Erlich and Ram, so maybe we shouldn't give Marc all the credit. Tomeu hasn't played for a while so i'm sure he wasn't very helpful.

thats what i was going to say, the bryans are the best in the world, just because you dont respect doubles doesnt mean the players arent good, bob bryan played us davis up in singles too. I think fish and roddick might have a shoot at beating them though, there both pretty good doubles players.

I saw Lopez in Nadal's box during his singles match today. I wonder why he didn't enter doubles with Lopez? Previous commitment?

Correct, Tomeu is a very talented player and Rafa his best friend, they grew up together as both are from Mallorca. Like Babette said he didnt play for awhile, then to come back and face the Bryan's is a little too much to ask i think.

Nadal plays doubles for fun and to practice some shots. Tomeu is his friend, so he plays with him, even if he knows that he would get better results with another partner. The result is secondary for him. He's a singles top player. No need to put himself under pressure for the doubles. Singles are enough.

I laugh at doubles specialists. Look how the bryans lost to federer-wawrinka at the Olympics. If some of the top 30 in the singles tour played doubles all the time, they would eventually beat nestor-zimonjic, the bryans, etc. I repeat, look what happened at the olympics. Doubles specialists win cause no top single player bother to show up ;)

    Oh hai ALMAGRO/Robredo d. Nestor/Zimonjic in Miami.

But let's be reality who gonna be able to play against 120 mph forehand, 105 mph backhand, serve like bazooka. No one they gonna lose Almagro is the man.

Bryans need bigger rackets, they got totally annihilated today.I guess Nadal and Lopez would have spanked them too.
