Watching the news and pictures... it seems that top tennis players are much more recognizable than many Heads of States (not talking about Obama ets, but some other countries) at least for foreigners...

How many of you know Nadal and how many know the name of the President of Chile? (not talking about South Americans!)

When you see the pictures, it's funny to notice that the players are usually honored (but tired for a long trip) while the most excited ones are usually the presidents and their partners. I remember Federer in Argentina and it was just the same.

In a way it seems that these stars have a international mediatic power that is much stronger than the one of many head of states.

    It's a kind of scary isn't it?

Sorry... today I was a bit into politics :)

Tennis is a global sport. Chilean politics is hardly global. The US President is always the Globocop so they're always well known.

Yes, I know Sebastien Pinera. I'm not surprised he's pretty anonymous. He's hardly Hugo Chavez.

He remembers Nadal for the beating Gonzo gave him in 2007!
